THE KIWI ART HOUSE - TRANSPARENTE BY ESCHA VAN DEN BOGERD
Escha was born in The Hague, Holland and
attended the Rudolf Steiner school which taught
many art subjects including painting drawing and
art history. After finishing school she studied art
in Florence, Salzburg and Holland. Escha has
developed a style that combines figurative and
abstractive images working together and
reinforcing each other on the canvas. Her work
has delicate compositions and colour palettes of
many of the Italian Romance artists and her use
of wash like techniques adds drama and vibrancy
to her paintings.
Escha now lives in Wellington and her paintings
are sold here and in Europe. She has exhibited
many times in solo and group shows including
numerous times in her native Holland and new
home New Zealand. Over 15 years Escha's
exhibitions included shows in Geneva,
Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Stockholm, Venice,
Vienna, New York, New Jersey, Moko City Japan
and Listowel Ireland.

The Royal New Zealand Ballet stages a national tour
of the charming, festive tale The Nutcracker for the
first time since 2010.
Our story begins on Christmas Eve, as Tchaikovsky's
enchanting music (performed live by the NZSO in

doll by her mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer.
As the clock strikes midnight she falls asleep and the
drawing room is transformed. Skirmishes break out
between the toy soldiers and motley crew of mice,
but clever Clara saves the day, and the handsome
Nutcracker Prince sweeps her away to the Marzipan
Castle.
Clara and her Prince are captivated by dances
representing tea, coffee, chocolate, marzipan and
flowers, finishing with the spectacular dance of the
Sugar Plum Fairy - one of ballet’s most cherished
showpieces.
On Christmas morning Clara awakes, knowing that
the sweetest memories are made with those we love.
