Sept. 5-12, 2020 Weekly Construction Update Page 2 of 5 Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – Interstate Bridge Trunnion Replacement (20T062475) Project Description: The northbound span of the Interstate Bridge will close from Sept. 12–20, 2020 as crews replace mechanical parts that help lift and lower the bridge. The Interstate Bridge is located on I-5 where it connects Oregon and Washington across the Columbia River. Traffic Impacts: Closure of northbound span Sept. 12-20. Nighttime lane closures in both directions over the Interstate Bridge beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11. At 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, crews will begin closing the northbound span of the Interstate Bridge, which will remain closed until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20. Northbound and southbound traffic will share the three lanes and sidewalk on the southbound span. Expect delays. Ramp closures during the closure include: Marine Drive on-ramp to I-5 north in Portland, Hayden Island on-ramp to I-5 north in Portland, I-5 north to SR 14 off-ramp in Vancouver and SR 14/Washington Street on-ramp to I-5 south in Vancouver. Follow signed detours. For more information: www.interstatebridge.org Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – Rose Quarter Investigations Project Description: This project will conduct utility work in the I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project area including nearby local streets between N Greeley and NE Lloyd Boulevard. Traffic Impacts: No traffic impacts. Project website: www.i5RoseQuarter.org Interstate 84 – Columbia River Highway – Graham Road (19T005241) Project Description: This project replaces the two I-84 bridges over Graham Road (Exit 17) in Troutdale and widens Graham Road and constructs a sidewalk and bike lane. Traffic Impacts: Nighttime and daytime lane closures on Graham Road. Nighttime lane and ramp closures on I-84 east and west. Periodic daytime lane closures with flagging and shoulder closures on Graham Road weekdays and nighttime lane closures between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Periodic nighttime ramp closures for work on Graham Road. For more information: www.i-84Troutdale.org Interstate 205 – East Portland Freeway – Northbound Auxiliary Lane at Sunnybrook (19T009611) Project description: ODOT is improving safety and operations on Interstate 205 by building a northbound auxiliary lane between the Oregon 224 (Sunrise Expressway) on-ramp and the Sunnyside Road/Sunnybrook Boulevard interchange exit ramp (Exit 14). Traffic impacts: No traffic impacts. Traffic Impacts: No traffic impacts. Sept. 5-12, 2020 Weekly Construction Update Page 3 of 5 Interstate 205 – Abernethy Bridge to SE 82nd Ave – Paving (20T057692) Project Description: ODOT will improve Interstate 205 between the Abernethy Bridge in Oregon City and SE 82nd Avenue near the Oregon 224 interchange by repaving over 4 miles of I-205 as well as installing rumble strips. Traffic Impacts: Nighttime single lane closures on I-205 north starting between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday nights. Nighttime ramp closures. Project website: https://www.oregon.gov/odot/projects/pages/project-details.aspx?project=20508 Interstate 405 – Stadium Freeway – Ramp repairs (19T025461) Project description: ODOT is repairing and replacing a number of freeway joints on the elevated sections of Interstate 405 on either side of the Fremont Bridge and from I-405 north to U.S. 26 west. Major traffic impacts will occur in 2019 and 2020. Traffic impacts: Nighttime ramp closures and lane closures. Nighttime ramp closures of the U.S 30 east ramp to I-405 south, the I-5 south ramp to I-405 south and the N Going Street on-ramp to I-5 south from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday nights. Intermittent nighttime lane closures on I-405 north and south between the Fremont Bridge and on the I- 5 south ramp to I-405 south from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday nights. Single lane 24/7 closure on N Kerby/N Cook on-ramp until fall 2020. For more information: www.i405ramps.org Interstate 405 – Stadium Freeway – Flanders Crossing (City of Portland) (20T057613) Project Description: PBOT is constructing a bridge over I-405 at NW Flanders St. A full closure of I-405 will occur in November 2020 to place the bridge. Traffic Impacts: The I-405 southbound off-ramp at NW Glisan Street will be closed from Sunday, July 26 through Monday, August 31. Project website: www.portland.gov/transportation/flanders U.S. 26 – Powell Boulevard – Outer Powell Safety (19T033601) Project Description: This project will construct roadway improvements on Powell Boulevard from SE 122nd Avenue to SE 136th Avenue to address the high rate of collisions on Outer Powell for the past several years. The purpose of this project is to increase safety for people who walk, drive, take the bus and ride bikes, making Outer Powell a safer place for everyone. Traffic Impacts: Daytime lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information: www.outerpowellsafety.org U.S. 26 – Mt Hood Highway – Paving from Zigzag to Rhododendron (20T065748) Project Description: This project will repave 2.5 miles of U.S. 26 between East Lolo Pass Road in Zigzag and East Arlie Mitchell Road in Rhododendron to smooth out the ride on a heavily traveled corridor. This project will also improve safety by replacing rumble strips, raising 2,400 feet of guardrail, and replacing 1,500 feet of glare shields. Traffic Impacts: Lane closures with flaggers directing traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Sept. 5-12, 2020 Weekly Construction Update Page 4 of 5 U.S. 30 – Historic Columbia River Highway – Wa Na Pa Streetscape (20T033397) Project description: ODOT, in partnership with the City of Cascade Locks, is improving the operations, accessibility and safety of Wa Na Pa Street in downtown Cascade Locks. Work includes paving Wa Na Pa Street from just east of the Bridge of the Gods to Forest Lane (0.8 miles), constructing accessible sidewalk curb ramps at 11 intersections, and restriping the roadway and six crosswalks. Traffic impacts: Periodic traffic shifts and on-street parking closures between the Venture Street and Forest Lane. Short-term closure of Cascade Street. Follow signed detour. Project website: https://www.oregon.gov/odot/projects/pages/project-details.aspx?project=WNPS Oregon 8 – TV Highway – Intersection Improvements at OR 219 (20T013985) Project Description: This project on OR 8 at OR 219 in downtown Hillsboro includes new traffic signals and signs, improved lighting, upgraded ADA curb ramps and a new left turn lane at OR 219 at Oak Street. Work will be complete in fall 2020. Traffic Impacts: Daytime and nighttime lane closures. Daytime lane and shoulder closures on Baseline Street (OR 8) and 1st Avenue and Oak Street (OR 8) and 1st Avenue. Nighttime lane closures with flaggers directing on SW Baseline Street, SW Oak Street and 1st Avenue from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. week nights. Project website: www.OR8construction.org Oregon 8 – TV Highway – Pedestrian Crossing Upgrade at SE 44th/45th Avenue 20T025695) Project Description: This project on OR 8 at 44th/45th avenues in Hillsboro includes pedestrian-activated flashing lights at the crosswalk on OR 8 between SE 44th and SE 45th Avenues, improved lighting and upgraded ADA curb ramps. Work will be complete in fall 2020. Traffic Impacts: Daytime and nighttime lane closures. Daytime lane and shoulder closures on OR 8 between SE 44th and 45th Avenue. Nighttime lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. week nights on TV Highway between Brookwood Parkway and SE 44th Avenue. Project website: www.OR8construction.org Oregon 99W – Pacific Highway West – Tualatin River Bridge (20T062379) Project Description: This project will improve the bridge over the Tualatin River on OR 99W northbound including replacing the bridge joints and installing new concrete surfaces. Traffic Impacts: One lane of OR 99W northbound is closed 24/7 across the Tualatin River Bridge until Sept. 9. Watch for traffic control changes. Speed is reduced to 35 mph. Trucks follow signed detour. Nighttime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic beginning Sept. 9. Sept. 5-12, 2020 Weekly Construction Update Page 5 of 5 Oregon 212 – Clackamas-Boring Highway – Improvements (19T110043) Project Description: This project on OR 212 from I-205 to U.S. 26 through Damascus and Boring includes paving, upgrading accessible sidewalk ramps and installing a new bridge at North Fork Deep Creek. Work will be complete in fall 2021. Traffic Impacts: Daytime lane closures and nighttime lane closures on OR 212 from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Intermittent flagging and pilot cars directing traffic between 98th and 172nd Avenues at night. Project website: www.OR212Improvements.org All ODOT highways – Region 1 LED Replacement Project Project Description: This project will replace over 8,000 roadway lights with light-emitting diode (LED) lights on ODOT roads throughout Region 1, which includes Multnomah, Clackamas and Hood River Counties and eastern Washington County. Traffic Impacts: Intermittent nighttime lane closures on I-205 from Stark Street to Flavel Street from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights. Intermittent nighttime closures of the I-205 south Exit 19 off-ramp to Division Street, the Division Street on-ramp to I-205 south, and the I-205 north off-ramps between Powell Boulevard (Exit 19) to the Glenn Jackson Bridge from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights. Project Website: https://tinyurl.com/odotR1LEDpilot Steel Bridge – Bridge Deck Seal (20T068717) Project Description: This project will apply a bridge deck concrete seal on several bridges in 2020. The new deck seals will increase the lifespan of the bridges by creating a barrier to keep water from seeping into the bridges. Traffic Impacts: The eastbound lane of the Steel Bridge will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5:30 am Sept. 9. Follow signed detour. MAX trains will not be disrupted, but TriMet buses may be on alternate routes over the river. See trimet.org/alerts for more details.
