Individual and Family Financial Supports Federal Resources Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) Will provide $500 per week for up to 16 weeks if you have lost income because of COVID-19. Visit the Government of Canada for more information on the application process. Employment Insurance Regular Benefits If you have lost insurable employment and meet all eligibility criteria you could receive up to 55% of your average insurable weekly earnings up to $573per week. Apply Here. Employment Insurance Sickness Benefits If you are unable to work due to sickness you may be eligible to receive up to 15 weeks of income replacement up to a maximum of $573 per week. Apply Here. Special Goods and Services Tax Credit Payment A one-time supplementary payment will be issued if you already receive the GST/HST payment. For more information visit the Government of Canada. Mortgage Deferral Available for all Canadians in good standing with their bank. Visit Canadian Bankers Association for more information. Extended Income Tax Filing and Payment Dates The income tax filing date for the 2019 tax year has been extended along with the payment dates. Visit the Government of Canada for more information. Canada Child Benefit Increase Recipients of the CCB will receive $300 more per child with their May payment. If you are not receiving this benefit and feel you may qualify follow visit the Government of Canada. Provincial Resources Deferrals on personal loans and mortgages Alberta Treasury Branch (ATB) Financial and Alberta Credit Unions are offering deferred payments on certain loans, lines of credit, and mortgages for up to six (6) months. Personal banking customers are advised to contact their banking institution. Utility Payment Deferral Deferral of utility payments are available up until June 19, 2020 for those unable to pay. Suspending Eviction Enforcement No one will be evicted for non-payment of rent until after April 30, 2020. For more information, visit the Government of Alberta. Alberta Works / Employment Income Supports Supports for individuals and families to pay for basic expenses like food, clothing and shelter. Town of Morinville – Property Tax & Utility Bill Deferral Program Homeowners and businesses may need extra time to pay their utility bills and tax payments. Senior Specific Financial Supports Federal Resources Reduced Minimum Withdrawal of RRIF Reduction of required minimum withdrawals from Registered Retirement Income Funds by 25% for 2020. Youth / Student Specific Financial Supports Federal Resources Student Loan Deferral Student loan payments will be deferred until September 30th, 2020. For more information visit the National Student Loans Service Centre. Business Specific Financial Supports Federal Resources Work Share Program Extension Extension from 38 weeks to 76 weeks for employers affected but COVID-19. Provides income support to employees eligible for Employment Insurance who agree to reduce normal working hours due to circumstances outside of the employers control. Apply here. Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy Would cover 75% of salaries for qualifying businesses for up to three (3) months retroactive to March 15, 2020. Public sector entities will not be eligible. More time to pay corporate taxes Businesses are able to defer payments until after August 31, 2020 of any income tax amounts owing on or after March 18 and before September 2020. No interest or penalties will be applied. Deferral of Sales Tax Remittance and Custom Duty Payments Businesses including self-employed individuals are able to defer GST/HST and Custom Duty Payments until June 30, 2020. Business Credit Availability Program Loan guarantees for small and medium sized businesses and co-lending program for small and medium sized businesses. Canada Emergency Business Account Provides interest free loans of up to $40,000 to small businesses and not for profits. Organizations will need to prove that they paid between $50,000 and $1 million in total payroll in 2019. Interested businesses/organizations should contact their current financial institutions. Collection of non-residential education property tax will be deferred for six (6) months. Utility Payment Deferral Farm and small commercial customers can defer electricity and natural gas payments for the next 90 days. Tourism Levy Deferral Delayed payment of the tourism levy for hotels and other lodging providers until August 31st, 2020 for amounts due on or after March 27th, 2020. Specialized Services / Organizations Financial Supports Federal Resources Enhanced Reaching Home Initiative $157.5 million has been added to the previously existing program to fund a variety of needs such as purchasing beds, and physical barriers for social distancing. Enhanced Women and Gender Equality (WAGE) Fund $40 million has been given to WAGE to address immediate needs of shelters and sexual assault centres.
