Clermont Senior Services, Inc. VOLUNTEER Connections Winter Newsletter December 2020 It’s Still the Most Wonderful Time of the Year... Adopt A Senior Season is wrapping up at Clermont Senior Services! There’s been a generous outpouring of love and gifts for over 500 seniors in Clermont County! Amidst all the COVID issues, the community pulled together to make this happen! The pretty packages poured in and filled the gift room to overflowing. Making the best of restrictions and guidelines, some shoppers ordered online and gifts came in via Amazon or postal service delivery while many shoppers brought their packages in following guidelines of mask wearing and quick drop offs. Clermont Senior Services drivers and volunteers hustled to get the beautiful gifts delivered in record time this year! Many smiles and some tears were observed as the seniors received their gifts, grateful to be remembered during these times of isolation. A lot of the adopters that participated in the program have expressed their joy in being able to purchase gifts this Season. Many have shared they’ve experienced feelings of helplessness as they haven’t been permitted to visit in hospitals or nursing facilities, and fear of visiting their loved ones at their homes. We are so happy each donor joined in the Adopt A Senior 2020 Program. They have brightened up this Christmas Season for many seniors. Wishing a Most Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. Thank you for all your support in 2020. I look forward to working together in 2021 as we help seniors remain in their homes as long as possible! -Kathy Angel, Volunteer Coordinator Mary said: “I love my new shower curtain! I asked for a pink one and it is so beautiful! It reminds me of something that should have been in the movie Gone With The Wind! It makes my heart happy every time I go into the bathroom. Thank you so much for this wonderful gift.” The Gift Room

from the desk of Bill DeHass... 2020 has certainly been a year for the history books, the global pandemic quickly reshaped how we went about our daily lives. While we continued to serve older adults in our community, the way it occurred definitely looked different. The important thing is that our customers continued to receive the critical services that helped them remain in their homes independently. That continued support would not have been possible without the countless volunteers that made it happen – even with the hiatus that occurred for many of our volunteers. As 2020 comes to an end, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to all of our volunteers for the generosity extended in normal times and through hardships. Clermont Senior Services, Inc. and the older adults in our community cannot thank you enough for the smiles you gave and created throughout the year. Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year to all!!
