About The Venice Glass Week Founded in 2017, The Venice Glass Week is an international festival dedicated to celebrating, supporting and promoting the art of glass- making: the artistic and economic activity for which the Lagoon City of Venice has been renowned around the world for over 1000 years. The fifth edition will take place from 4th to 17th September 2021, featuring a programme of exhibitions, demonstrations, guided tours, conferences and more. For the first time, the Organising Committee has decided to extend the festival to a two-week period, aiming to enable the public to participate in a safe and socially-distanced manner in the many events scheduled to take place around the city this September. The “hashtag-title” of the 2021 festival is #VivaVetro!, intended to convey a message of positivity, fortitude and support for the world of glass, especially in light of the challenges of the past year. The 2021 festival will build on the success of previous editions such as that of 2019, which featured over 200 events in more than 100 different venues, attracting an audience of 103,000 visitors from Venice, elsewhere in Italy and abroad. The festival will also build on the significant achievements of the 2020 edition when, in spite of the severe challenges caused by Covid-19, The Venice Glass Week’s Organising Committee and participants succeeded in realising an edition that featured 215 events around the city and online, with an audience of 62,000 visitors: a sure sign of the resilience, dynamism and vitality of Venice’s cultural sector, and a strong indication of the local and international interest in the field of glass. the Venice glass week 1 4 th – 17 th September 2021

This is why collaborations with foreign universities such as the American Glass Art Society, the Murano Prize, the artist residencies and the Glass Week can enable glass art to evolve and progress in the 21st century, in a manner that is compatible with the new demands of globalisation.” Manuel Orazi, Il Foglio the Venice glass week 12 4 th – 17 th September 2021
