DEAR FAMILY, Welcome! This is going to be the best summer ever! At the Y, we play sports, engage in our newly featured S.T.E.M. activities, swim and build character! The YMCA helps all children reach their full potential by supporting their unique youth development journeys. This summer your child can choose a S.T.E.M., Sports or Combo camp. Children who participate in S.T.E.M. activities learn how to problem solve, work successfully in teams, and develop self-confidence. Teamwork and sportsmanship are taught while children learn to shoot hoops, kick, dribble, create art and so much more in our Sports camp! Come and join us on a new, exciting adventure. We look forward to making this a great summer filled with memories for your child. S.T.E.M. S.T.E.M. camp will ignite the scientific potential of every camper and encourage them to maximize their curiosity with our unique S.T.E.M. based curriculum. Campers will explore outrageous CAMP science themes and have a summer of awesome exploration. West Family Y MAD SCIENTIST Week 6: August 3-August 7 Put on your lab coats and explore a world of interactive science where camp becomes your laboratory. Explore science and all its wonder-grow LEGO – MAKE IT MOVE crystals, make a lava lamp, build a robot and more. Week 1: June 29-July 3 Design and build different forms of transportation. Compete to see who can engineer the fastest form of GO GREEN Lego travel. Week 7: August 10-August 14 Save the earth! Create art from recycled materials, make recycled paper, make a birdhouse and even your OUT OF THIS WORLD own terrarium. Week 2: July 6-July 10 Blast off! Explore your world, learn the big and small WATER WORKS of it all. Design, build and launch rockets and create moon sand. Week 8: August 17-August 21 Water, water everywhere, but what can you make it do? Prepare for a week full of water games! Compete EDIBLE ENGINEERING in water relays, pop goes the water balloon, sponge Week 3: July 13-July 17 toss and more! Learning is sweet with science you can eat! Enjoy creating some tasty treats while learning the science BEYOND BOARD GAMES behind it. Week 9: August 24 -August 28 Everyone’s favorite board games come to life when ARTFUL ANTICS they are supersized! THINGS TO KNOW! AGE REQUIREMENTS Campers must be between the ages of 5-13 years DROP OFF/PICK UP old. REGISTRATION & PAYMENT POLICIES HOW DO I REGISTER? Register online at www.ymcabroome.org or stop by the Welcome Center of your nearest branch! Registration requires a non-refundable deposit of $30 for each of camp you which you wish to register for. Deposits are applied to camp fees. CAMPER SAFETY YMCA Summer Camps are licensed by NYS Department of Health. Our camps are inspected to ensure our facilities are in compliance with all safety standards. Safety comes first at the Y. That’s why we ask all campers to be respectful to themselves, other campers and staff. To ensure the safety of all those in our care, a camper whose behavior poses a risk to safety may be removed from campers, and our staff. EMERGENCIES SWIMMING Our staff are trained in handling a variety of Campers who wish to swim in designated deep water emergency situations.
