© visitBerlin, Foto: Ralf Ostendorf ATM Dubai 2021 Media Roadshow Europe (July-October) As part of a European campaign, visitBerlin is conducting a media roadshow in various European capitals. On 15/16 September the most important media representatives of the region will be invited to Madrid and on 28 September to London. Likewise, the Berlin Highlights 2021/2022 will be presented in Zurich on 30 September. Other stops on the roadshow until the end of the year are The Hague (3 October), Copenhagen, Paris and Rome. GNTB Workshop "Germania. Destinazione vacanze" (September) The GNTB's "Germany as a vacation destination" presentation workshop in the northern Italian cities of Milan and Padua on September 28 and 29 will feature discussions on current Berlin topics and news. In addition to sharing new market insights, Carlo Carbone (Market & Media Relations Manager for Latin America, France, Italy and Spain) will also represent various Berlin partners. © Olga Rainka
PK Warschau 2021 Media and Trade Events Singapore (October) As a pilot project between Germany and Singapore, the new so-called "Vaccinated Travel Lane" will once again enable safe international travel in times of the pandemic. visitBerlin will use this opening window as the only German destination for live events in Singapore, where both media and the travel industry will be represented in cooperation with the German Embassy. During face-to-face meetings, Ralf Ostendorf (Director Market Management, Market & Media Relations Asia, North America, Australia Middle East) will provide travel inspiration for the German capital. PopUp Event Barcelona (October) As part of the GNTB's German.Local.Culture. event series and as part of the communication campaign#YoursTrulyGermany www.germany.travel, Carlo Carbone (Market & Media Relations Manager for Latin America, France, Italy and Spain) will join forces with the Jewish Museum Berlin/ANOHA and Cultur Incoming to present the family- friendly face of Berlin. Signature Travel Network Conference & Trade Show, USA (November) Due to Covid-19, the important B2B conference for luxury tourism in the USA had to be held virtually last year. In 2021, however, the Signature Conference will once again be held live in Las Vegas! While about 1,500 Signature members, managers as well as travel advisors attended the exclusive conference in previous years, an even higher turnout is expected this year. The Director of visitBerlin Market Management, Ralf Ostendorf, will participate in the Open Trade Show together with the GNTB as part of One-on-One Meetings and with a Berlin presentation in the Destination Germany Workshop. Roadshow "MeetGermany" 2021 (November)
The GNTB's "MeetGermany" workshop will take place in Madrid and Barcelona on November 10 and 11. In both cities there are many important representatives of the Spanish travel industry such as tour operators and travel agencies. Carlo Carbone (Market & Media Relations Manager for Latin America, France, Italy and Spain) will present Berlin within the workshop days and inform the participants about the new highlights in the city. GNTB Workshop Brussels (November) With the aim to present current Germany offers and product news to representatives of the Belgian travel industry, the GNTB Brussels organizes a Germany Workshop on November 17. Joyce Bernitt (Project Manager for Press and Fam Trips) is attending the event on behalf of visitBerlin to present Berlin's latest offerings. ILTM Cannes (December) The International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM), a flagship luxury travel trade show, will take place in Cannes from 6-9 December, with pre-set dates, training and networking. 1,850 luxury travel advisors are expected at the fair, in which the GNTB is participating. Carlo Carbone (Market & Media Relations Manager for Latin America, France, Italy and Spain) will present the themes for 2022 at the Germany stand for visitBerlin. World Airline Dubai & Media Event GNTB (December) Together with BER, visitBerlin takes part in the World Airline Dubai conference in order to acquire new flight connections to Berlin, among other things. In addition, a media event is realized in cooperation with GNTB Dubai to maintain and expand Berlin's visibility in the Gulf region with current Berlin news and topics. Previous activities Arabian Travel Market (ATM) Dubai (May) The largest B2B travel trade show in the Arab region took place hybrid this year, with an on-site trade show in Dubai from May 14-19 and a virtual trade show from May 24-26. visitBerlin was present at both formats: Ralf Ostendorf (Director Market Management and
Market & Media Relations Manager for the Arab region) and CEO Burkhard Kieker presented the 2021 highlights, such as the opening of the Humboldt Forum. As the Gulf Arab region is an important source market in medical tourism, Berlin was also presented as a medical destination. An exclusive press conference was held on May 17, to which numerous media representatives from the region were invited. Mediaroadshow Europe: Event in Warsaw (June) As part of the Media Roadshow Europe, visitBerlin's CEO Burkhard Kieker and Ralf Ostendorf (Director of Market Management and Market & Media Relations Manager for the Arab region) were on site in Warsaw on June 16 at a media event. In front of more than 40 journalists they presented the current Highlihts for the year 2021 in Berlin. This makes Berlin the first city to promote itself again in Poland. Mediaroadshow Europe: Event in Vienna (Juli) Another event of the Media Roadshow Europe was a press conference in Vienna on July 2 in cooperation with GNTB Vienna. Ten journalists were invited to the event at the Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna. Managing Director Burkhard Kieker, Sabine Wendt (Head of Destination Management & Corporate Development) and Carlo Carbone (Market & Media Relations Manager for Latin America, France, Italy and Spain) presented news from Berlin for the Austrian press and travel industry. Mediaroadshow Europe: Event in Brussels (July) As part of the media roadshow, visitBerlin in cooperation with the GNTB invited 20 journalists* for an exclusive press lunch on July 8. In a former paper factory, Managing Director Burkhard Kieker and Carlo Carbone (Market & Media Relations Manager for Latin America, France, Italy and Spain) presented the Berlin highlights for the Belgian travel and media industry.
GNTB Workshop Switzerland (September) On September 1 2021, a Germany workshop for multipliers in Switzerland organized by the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) took place in Zurich, where Ralf Ostendorf (Director Market Management and Market & Media Relations Manager for the Arab region) represented visitBerlin. Participants were invited to exchange ideas and experiences during joint networking and individual presentation opportunities. Press Workshop Netherlands (September) On September 7, visitBerlin participated in a PR workshop organized by GNTB Netherlands, to which Dutch media and influencers were invited. For visitBerlin, Catarina Erceg (Market & Media Relations Manager UK/Ireland, Nordics, Eastern Europe, Russia, Israel, Turkey) presented, among other things, new story ideas from Berlin. Medical Business Breakfast GNTB Moscow (September) Due to fewer participants, this year's GNTB Moscow medical workshop was cancelled. Instead, an exclusive visitBerlin business breakfast was organized, to which the most important agencies in the medical travel sector are invited. A representative of the German Embassy had also reported on the current situation for applying for a medical visa and answered the travel agencies' questions. 14th Arab-German Health Forum in Berlin (September) The 14th Arab-German Health Forum, organized annually by Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry e.V., took place this year in Berlin. Representatives from the health care industry, politics, and media had the opportunity to network in the German-Arab environment. visitBerlin was represented on the panel "Healthcare Transformation: Digitalization & Technology" and contributed an article to the
simultaneously published Healthcare Guide 2021 on the topic of telemedicine in the field of medical tourism. GNTB Roadshow Austria (September) The roadshow in Austria will take place on September 21 and 22 in a workshop/networking format in the cities of Vienna and Linz and will be hosted by Catarina Erceg, Market Manager UK, Nordics, DACH. In order to stay in touch with our partners around the world, many meetings were moved to a virtual space. Among other things, this resulted in our first series of online seminars "about Berlin". In addition, we
were available via various digital events and got the world excited about Berlin online. Online Seminar "about Berlin - News 2021" (February) On February 9 and 10, 2021 the Market Management Team successfully conducted several online seminars for the national and international travel industry. In 4 seminars, about 140 participants followed up to date information about the Corona situation in Berlin and the upcoming news 2021. Represented were among others the markets Asia, Australia, Eastern Europe, Israel, Spain and the United Kingdom. Meet Travel Media Europa Workshop (April) At MTM Europe on April 20 2021, key players in the tourism industry, such as destinations, attractions and the top hotel industry, met online with European travel journalists in one-on-one workshops. Participants had 20 one-to-one 20-minute networking appointments available to them throughout the day. Catarina Erceg (Market & Media Relations Manager for the UK/Ireland, Nordics, Eastern Europe, Russia, Israel and Turkey) and Carlo Carbone (Market & Media Relations Manager for Latin America, France, Italy and Spain) experienced great interest in Berlin and its topics as well as consistently positive exchanges with journalists during a total of 36 meetings. A total of 27 markets from Europe and overseas took part. Virtual Germany Travel Mart (GTM) (April) At the GTM from April 27-29 2021, the latest news and trends in German tourism were presented to selected international journalists and hosted buyers. The workshop provided a suitable platform to present visitBerlin's product range to an international trade audience. Due to the closed workshop concept, only registered suppliers and pre- selected hosted buyers met. In a total of 130 expert discussions and individual follow- ups, classic Berlin topics and highlights were presented.
DZT goes online in Canada and USA (October) Originally planned for Toronto, Minneapolis and Chicago, the GNTB's "Germany Marketplace" contact exchange and "Travels Advisor Reception" will now take place in a digital format after all: From October 6-7, Joyce Bernitt, Press and Fam Trips project manager, will conduct one-on-one meetings with U.S. and Canadian tour operators. A series of webinars will also follow at the end of October, introducing Berlin along with other city destinations. Virtual Travel Mart & Germany Specialist Program India (October) In virtual meetings, visitBerlin will present the capital city to more than 100 representatives of the Indian travel industry over 4 days as part of the reconstruction of the long-distance markets. The highlights for 2022 as well as the current novelties will be in focus from October 18-21. ITB Asia digital (October) Due to the pandemic, the B2B travel trade show ITB Asia will again take place as a virtual event only. From October 25-29, visitBerlin will participate in various digital presentation formats together with BER. German Travel Week 2021 Japan & South Korea (November) From November 8-11, GNTB Tokyo will host the 20th German Travel Week as a virtual roadshow. Michaela Kehrer (Project Manager & Medical Tourism Manager) will give a foretaste of the Berlin Highlights 2022 in workshops with Japanese and Korean Trade Key Accounts, as foreign travel is expected to be possible again by spring at the latest. Online campaigns
Online campaigns are an essential part of the tasks of the Market Management team. Through them, a high outreach can be achieved and potential guests from various international markets become aware of Berlin. Berlin classics as well as current highlights or theme-specific content are presented. OTA campaigns Gulf region (December) visitBerlin is launching two online campaigns in the Gulf Arab markets at the end of the year: From November to January, bookable offers and a themed page with inspiration for a trip to Berlin will be placed on dnatatravel.com. The campaign will be accompanied by social media posts, an advertorial in World Traveller Magazine, a newsletter article and much more. On one of the largest online price platforms in the GCC region, wego.com, another campaign will go online in December, which will draw attention to Berlin with an awareness campaign via various channels. Previous online campaigns Berlin Health Excellence campaign on dw.com (January/February) The online campaign on the English, Arabic, Chinese and Russian pages of Deutsche Welle's German news portal ran from December 21, 2020 to February 21, 2021, where the new telemedicine offerings were advertised on the medical tourism website www.berlin-health-excellence.de. Wanderlust campaign China (until March) With the trend towards nature-based and active forms of vacation, Berlin has positioned itself in Germany with many sustainable offers. EuroPass' Europe-wide "Wanderlust" advertising campaign was targeted at Chinese Free Independent Travelers. For 20 selected European destinations, including Berlin, the inspiring campaign ran from September 1, 2020 - March 31, 2021 with lots of image and video content. Berlin was selected as one of 35 cities for the "Creative Cities" category.
Online Travel Agency Booking campaign (June until August) Together with the booking platforms Trivago and Omio, online campaigns were to motivate travelers to take a city trip to Berlin and generate bookings. The campaign content and ads were played out from mid-June to August 2021. (International) press trips Press representatives, journalists, bloggers and influencers regularly visit Berlin. We as Berlin experts share our knowledge and support the planning and implementation of press trips on a wide variety of topics. Press trip Industrial culture (March) A freelance journalist from Germany was in Berlin from March 3-5 2021 and researched for an article on the topic of industrial culture in Berlin and buildings of the 1920s. With a bike tour on the topic of industrial culture, a personal meeting with the spokesman of visitBerlin Christian Tänzler, the press trip on the topic of industrial culture was implemented for a print publication. TVE Canal 2 Spain (May) From May 11 to 12 2021, a press trip for a Spanish channel of public television took place. The filming dealt with sustainable overnight stays at Hotel Berlin and included an interview with the contact person from Stadtfarm, on Tempelhofer Feld. Le Routard from France (June/July) From June 28th to July 5th we welcomed a journalist from the French online travel guide Le Routard in Berlin. The focus of this trip was Berlin's diverse neighborhoods and the
cultural highlights that can be discovered in each district of the city. Podcast-Journey from Austria (July) You can catch up on this trip in the podcast. Simon Schwarz traveled to Berlin from July 19 - 21. This press trip came about through a cooperation with GNTB Austria. In addition to many of the current highlights that Berlin has to offer in 2021, you will get to know Hendrik Frobel, the director of the Chamäleon Theater, in an interview. Walking tour through Berlin (September) In cooperation with Tourismus-Marketing Brandenburg, 5 journalists from German print media will go on a walking tour through Berlin and Brandenburg at the end of September. On foot, by water and by bike, they will travel through Berlin through the Tegeler Fließ, the Wuhletal, the Gärten der Welt and the waterways of New Venice. Our rail campaigns
© DZT Belgien Rail campaign Belgium Regional travel has gained in popularity in recent months not only for reasons of sustainability, but also because of the limited travel options as a result of the corona pandemic. In this context, the intra-European rail connections from Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Poland and Sweden make it possible to reach the destination Berlin safely and flexibly. visitBerlin's rail campaigns take due account of this important travel market. The personal freedoms and ecological benefits are designed to motivate tourists to travel sustainably and considerately this summer. Rail campaign Sweden (May - November) The rail campaign for the Sweden market is a cooperation with (SJ), Vagabond Media and GNTB Stockholm. Plans include print/board magazine, an online campaign, sweepstakes, influencer trips, newsletters and promotion of out-of-home spaces at Stockholm and Malmö stations. Rail campaign Austria (April - December) Due to a new night train connection, another campaign is taking place in cooperation with the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and German Railways (DB). The campaign, managed by GNTB Austria, includes content on the ÖBB landing page www.oebb.at/deutschland and on www.germany.travel/sparschiene, as well as a banner and social media campaign in 2-3 waves. Furthermore, City Light posters are to be installed in Linz and Innsbruck, and ambient media campaigns are to be launched at the high-reach subway hub in Vienna. Rail campaign Belgium (June) In mid-June, the digital out-of-home campaign managed by GNTB Belgium launched with the hashtag "Germany, just around the corner." For two weeks, Berlin was promoted on digital screens at 5 Belgian train stations (Brussels and Liège), accompanied by a social media campaign. Stay informed with our Newsletters
