Visit Phoenix Visit Phoenix is a non-profit organization that promotes the Greater Phoenix community to a global audience of travelers and books conventions into the Phoenix Convention Center and area hotels and resorts. Visit Phoenix cultivates and maintains relationships with convention and meeting planners, journalists and influencers, travel agents, and tour operators. We produce marketing and brand campaigns promoting leisure travel and meetings, coordinate site visits, conduct media tours, and maintain the official tourism website for Greater Phoenix. In partnership with our nearly 1,000 member businesses, Visit Phoenix brings business to Greater Phoenix that would not otherwise come—from leisure visitors to group meetings to popular sports events. Through this, Greater Phoenix can compete in today’s globalized, networked world for its share of the world’s consumers, businesses, investment, capital, respect, and attention. POSITION SUMMARY The Vice President of Sales will report directly to the Chief Sales Officer and is a part of the Visit Phoenix Leadership Team. The Vice President of Sales will provide overall leadership and direction to the City-Wide Convention, Hotel & Resort Sales, and Tourism teams. The Vice President of Sales serves to develop and drive comprehensive convention, meeting, and trade show sales and tourism efforts for Visit Phoenix. The Vice President of Sales has primary accountability for the design of a strategic convention development program addressing sales and tourism strategies to motivate more organizations to book business events and drive leisure visitation to Greater Phoenix. The position requires leading a diverse team of professionals, providing strategic leadership to the organization, and balancing, prioritizing, and integrating competing interests with limited resources. The Vice President of Sales will be expected to inspire the trust and confidence of others on the team and in the organizations, including the Board of Directors and various key stakeholder organizations. The Vice President of Sales will actively facilitate effective cross-functional teamwork with internal departments to reinforce our organization's mission and shared values. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead Visit Phoenix CityWide Convention Sales, Hotel & Resort Sales, and Tourism teams in developing and implementing plans and programs to support and achieve the organization's sales goals and objectives. Develop and oversee key business initiatives in meeting sales goals and evaluating operational processes for effective use of the workforce, deployment strategy, and budget. Leads with integrity and demonstrates Visit Phoenix's core values, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging mission. The Vice President of Sales is a brand ambassador who adheres to our code of conduct and corporate policies. Cultivate a positive working environment to motivate and develop team members' skills and abilities. Demonstrate by personal example the desired standards of work performance. Demonstrates a level of emotional intelligence that encourages a positive and inclusive team in a manner that amplifies their strengths and develops areas of opportunities. Oversee the development and implementation of the department’s Program of Work; manage and maintain the effective execution of the established budgetary guidelines. Oversees Performance Management, monitors the results of teams’ efforts, acknowledges successes, and ensures corrective measures are taken when needed. The Vice President of Sales is a skillful consensus builder who collaborates with key hotel and convention center sales leaders and other stakeholders to achieve the desired results. Assists team, as needed, in managing relationships with key client accounts through participation in sales calls, site visits, and/or other client functions. Conducts presentations and meets with clients as appropriate. Represents Visit Phoenix in industry associations; serve on committees and boards as appropriate and participate in industry events, trade shows, and sales missions. The Vice President of Sales will maintain active engagement within Industry organizations such as Destinations International, PCMA, ASAE, MPI, etc. The Vice President of Sales promotes the Visit Phoenix brand through relationship-building with third-party intermediaries and other industry stakeholders. 2 04 SearchWideGlobal.com YOUR PARTNER IN GROWTH
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee the relationship of legacy or other accounts that hold significant economic development, cultural or community significance, including mega events, ensuring the highest degree of service and assigning the best resources within the organization to foster successful outcomes. Serve as a Leader member as part of the Management Team of Visit Phoenix. Communicates effectively with Executive Leadership on the establishment of division KPIs and incentive plan management. Collaborate with the Chief Sales Officer in setting strategic goals for the sales organization. Attends regular monthly meetings and others meetings as required. Demonstrates positive support of Visit Phoenix’s vision, mission, and brand marketing strategies. Other assignments as directed by the Chief Sales Officer as needed. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five to ten (5-10) years of progressively responsible positions in DMO Sales, Hotels, or other industry-related sales leadership roles. Minimum of five (5) years of successfully leading a Citywide Convention Sales team as DOS or Vice President of Sales. Strong written communication and presentation skills and the ability to connect with internal and external clients and stakeholders at all levels. Ability to clearly express complex thoughts, ideas, statistical results, and management concepts in oral and written English. Superior management and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to advocate and manage competing priorities. Adept at quantitative and qualitative analysis skills and can clearly communicate complex concepts. Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution. Maintains a positive and professional work attitude and appearance. Skilled in using Microsoft Office, WORD, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Simpleview CRM, Mint+, Ungerboeck, or other DMO CRM is a plus. Ability to manage workload requiring irregular hours, some weekend and evening hours. Knowledge of Greater Phoenix hotel community a plus. Extensive travel is required.
