THERAPEUTIC RECREATION FALL 2021 FALL 2021 SPECIAL EVENTS Outdoor Adventures Did you know that nature helps develop problem solving skills and enhances an inquisitive and creative mind? So, let’s Explore! It is time for us to go into nature and enjoy the great outdoors together. This program will focus on increasing physical activity levels, connecting with nature, and developing social skills with our pals on the adventure. The Outdoor Adventure is planned for Saturday, October 23, for participants in 9th grade and up. Trunk or Treat For the second year in a row, the Therapeutic Recreation team is partnering with Azalea Elementary School to participate in Trunk or Treat. on Friday, October 29. Come on out and celebrate Halloween while you drive through some spooky sights and enjoy yummy treats on F.I.T Community 5K This community 5K is planned for Saturday, November 6 and designed to celebrate the hard work and perseverance of our F.I.T. participants. Your TR staff will be partnering with our fellow recreation centers and vendors throughout our city to provide the ultimate party celebration! THERAPEUTIC RECREATION FALL 2021 MONTHLY EVENTS Friday Night Fun This fun monthly program is open to ages Kindergarten students and up and provides dinner, crafts, and activities with a monthly theme. Friday Night Fun is a new social based program that has combined the fun of First Friday and Fun with Friends and allows parents and caregivers to have a fun night out while the TR staff and participants enjoy some fun together! Who: Kindergarten and up Where: Azalea Recreation Center Time: 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. Cost: $10 September 10 Painting with a Twist & Karaoke October 8th Halloween Game Night November 12th Movie Night December 10th Family Holiday RSVP by calling (727) 893-7899 after the first day of the month the event falls in.

Trekkers is a social based program for teenagers that provides exciting on-site programming as well as thrilling community trips out to dinner and activities. This program is for middle and high school age youth and is offered one Saturday a month and during Fall, Winter, and Spring breaks. Activities may vary in fees and locations throughout the community. The Out on the Town program is a social based program for adults who have finished high school and offered on the second Saturday of every month. Activities may vary in fees and locations throughout the community. THERAPEUTIC RECREATION FALL 2021 Therapeutic Recreation (TR) TR utilizes various methods and techniques to promote independent physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning of individuals of all ability levels. Within the community, TR focuses on programs that promote health, independence, inclusion, activity, and increased quality of life of people with disabilities. Eligibility is evaluated by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist during a participant intake meeting and will be reviewed whenever necessary. Individualized behavioral support may be approved to maintain participant eligibility.
