GROW Project Designer, Sheena Brockie, Founder of

with such a large area of land. “This is a hugely ambitious
initiative which has allowed us to plan something unique –
the initial design has biodiversity at its core and provides
areas for growing alleys of fruit and nut trees, berries,

championing best practice in hedgerow management.
The land will be farmed regeneratively, creating carbon

the aim is to welcome anyone to help tend the land – it is a
truly inclusive project”.

WHO’S HOOPING TO BE A
PARISH CHAMP? INTERESTED
IN CROQUET?
The Jersey Croquet Club is a small friendly club, based at Les Quennevais
and playing on a Tuesday evening from April to late September. Croquet
itself is an easy game to pick up the basics, and an ongoing game to work
out good tactics, but, above all, we like to have fun and some laughs
along the way (it’s also easy to keep your distance from each other!). We
run a few simple tournaments for members during the season, and this
year we’re hoping to run an inter-parish competition, with winners to be
crowned at the end of the summer. The trouble is we don’t have members
from each parish to make it a proper showdown, and we’d like to put that
right. So, if there are any interested St Helier parishioners who’d like to step
up to the challenge – or if you’d just like to come up and have some fun,
then please get in touch, or pop up to the greens once we’ve been able to
safely restart play on a Tuesday: you’ll be assured of a warm welcome.
If you’d like more information, find us on

or email us at jerseycroquetclub@gmail.com.

     JSPCA: TIME TO
     GET SNAPPING
The JSPCA is thrilled to announce the launch of its Young
Photographer Competition, kindly sponsored by Brewin Dolphin
in the Channel Islands. From now until 31st August, young people
up to the age of 18 can grab their ‘phones or cameras and get
snapping to try to win the top prize of £500, inclusion of their
photo in an Exhibition and the chance to feature on the 2022
     JSPCA Animals’ Shelter’s calendar.
There are two subject areas for the photos – ‘Picture Perfect
Pets’ (to show all manner of domestic animals in their home
environment), and ‘Wild About Wildlife’ (about getting out
and about for weekend walks and enjoying the natural beauty
around us, and hopefully snapping some of our wonderful local
wildlife), and the Competition has three different age categories
     - Under 11 years, 11-13 years and 14-18 years, where entrants can
enter up to 10 images for either/both subject(s). Entries cost £3
     per photo.
All submissions for the Competition could potentially be used on
the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter’s promotional material, social media
and the website, and full details of the Competition will be added
to the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter’s Facebook page, or you can
email michelle@jspca.org.je for the full list of rules and an entry
     form.
