Dear Friends and Supporters of Catholic Charities, Welcome to the 2022 Emerald Ball! The Emerald Ball benefits the programs of Catholic Charities serving those in need in Collier County. Together with our team, you have helped change the lives of thousands of individuals in our community. The Emerald Ball committee has created an elegant event for your enjoyment. A special thank you to our hard-working Emerald Ball Chair, Barbara Neff, our Co-Chairs, Rachel M. Keller, and Sarah Walker. We would also like to thank the committee members, staff, and volunteers who have graciously given their time and talents to bring us together again. The programs benefitting from this event include four Catholic Charities sites in Collier County - • The Judy Sullivan Family Resource Center provides the Weekend Power Pack Food Program, which provides healthy meals sent home with local students to ensure food security during the weekend. • The Family Counseling Center provides mental health counseling to individuals, families, and children. • The Golden Gate Senior Center offers programming for senior citizens including, lunch, activities, socialization, and community. • Guadalupe Social Services in Immokalee provides hot meals through our Casa Maria Soup Kitchen, a food pantry, clothing room, and a shower program for the homeless. I want to invite each of you to visit our locations to learn more about who we are, what we do, and who we serve. On behalf of the Advisory Board and Emerald Ball Committee, thank you for your support. Your participation tonight will ensure the continuation of our much-needed services in our community. HEADS OR TAILS RULES Guests who participate in the Heads or Tails game donate $20 each and receive a twinkling Emerald Ball Ring. This ring indicates they purchased an entry into the game—only one entry per person. When the Auctioneer starts the game, all those who have purchased a ring, wear it and stand up. Participants indicate whether a coin tossed by the Auctioneer will land on Heads or Tails by placing their hands on their head (for Heads) or their derriere (for Tails). The Auctioneer flips the coin and announces whether it landed on heads or tails. If it lands on “Heads,” those participants with their hands on their heads remain standing and will continue in the game. Those who chose “Tails” sit down and are out of the game. If the coin lands on “Tails,” those with their hands on their derriere remain standing, and those who chose “Heads” sit down and are out of the game. The remaining participants again indicate whether they think the next coin flip will be Heads or Tails. The coin is flipped, and again, those who chose incorrectly, sit down and are out of the game; those that chose correctly remain standing and participate in the next round. This is repeated until there is only one remaining participant. When two participants are left, they must each pick an opposite side before the coin is flipped for the last time. The prize to the winner is a $500 gift coin to Amoré Jewelry in Bonita Springs. 8
LIVE AUCTION RULES Please bid generously! It’s not about getting a bargain … it’s about giving a blessing and receiving a gift in return. All the funds raised tonight go directly to benefit those helped by Catholic Charities of Collier County right here in our community. All bids are binding once they have been made. Please note all restrictions or blackout dates for any auction item you bid on.
