together to showcase the latest industry developments.
We return to Dublin’s Citywest Hotel in May while, for
the first time, we’re delighted to be bringing PLUMBEX
to Cork. We have listened to the industry and reacted to
the demand for this event in Cork, which takes place in
April (full details on both PLUMBEX events are on pages

Ireland’s Plumbing & Heating Awards will take place
in Dublin in September where we will again recognise
the industry’s leading people, products, projects and
companies. Find out how to enter – or sponsor – on

Finally, we’ve taken note of the environmental concerns
that have been making the headlines over the last 12
months and have reacted accordingly. Moving forward we
will be offering a more compact magazine that is printed
on ‘green’ paper. However, you won’t miss out as we will

TRAINEESHIP FOR MERCHANT SALES
Staff from Chadwicks, Heiton Buckley and Davies are taking part in a
forward-thinking new trainee programme.
The QQI accredited programme, which is run by Grafton Merchanting ROI
in conjunction with the Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education and Training
Board (DDLETB), aims to create a pipeline of skilled entry level trade sales
advisors within Grafton Merchanting ROI brands.
This news follows a recent report from the ERSI which stated that Ireland’s
construction sector will need a major boost to employment numbers if
housing supply is going to meet demand. The traineeship is being piloted
in Dublin this year, with a view to being rolled out nationwide in 2019.
The inaugural class of trainees consists of 17 men and three women.
Pat Barry, CEO of the Irish Green Building Council and

O
nce again, those wanting to learn about the latest
international developments will be jetting off to ISH
in Frankfurt – the world’s leading trade fair for the
combined topic of water and energy.
No other show is as sharply focused on forward-looking
subjects such as the conservation of resources and the use
of renewable energies.
With around 200,000 visitors and over 2,400 exhibitors, ISH
is the world’s leading trade fair and international meeting
place for the sector at the same time.
Running in a new Monday - Friday format from March 11-15,
2019 at Frankfurt am Main, ISH is once again set to attract
visitors from across Northern Ireland and the Republic of
Ireland. In fact, statistics from previous events show that
40% of the visitors and 64 % of the exhibitors come from
outside Germany and that trend is set to continue in 2019.
Incorporating ISH Water and ISH Energy, exhibitors will
include market leaders from home and abroad showcasing
bathrooms, modern, installation systems, tools and fixing
materials, efficient heating and air-conditioning technology
and renewable energy.
New at ISH 2019 will be the revised structure of the
programme of events, with a sub-division into three main
categories – Selection, Skills and Career – making it easier
for visitors to orientate themselves by areas of interest and
take part in the programme in line with their individual goals.
