here, school is out, vacations start, PRIDE month is here, and to top it all off, Father’s Day
arrives. Weddings and graduations also top the list of best events of the year and the longer

We are one month into our brand new magazine, and I want to thank people who have
reached out with their ideas, upcoming family feature families, and businesses. I’ve had some
interesting philosophical conversations with some of you and wanted to share my thoughts on
why community magazines are important.

This is Lexi Shapiro, writing to you as the Content Coordinator of the new North Bethesda
Magazine. As someone who has grown up in North Bethesda my whole life, I know how
unique this community is and how much there is within it to highlight. I want to make this
magazine into something amazing. I hope that you are willing to help me make this happen,
whether it be through sending in submissions, providing feedback, or just tuning in to read
each month’s copy. I want this to become a North Bethesda staple that you can turn to
for local information, some lighthearted relief, and most importantly for a strong sense of

Outside the office, Nurit’s generosity and compassion keep her active in the

Hassan worked at Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher LLP and in 2002
founded Tycko & Zavareei LLP, a public interest law firm. When not
at work he stays busy with reading, traveling, cooking, and tuning
into Duke Basketball and West Virginia Football. Natalie is a Dentist
at Natural Dentist Associates, and also enjoys traveling, HJI, interior
decorating, and painting whenever she has the chance to.
There is always something exciting at the Zavareeis, as the house is
full with three children, Hayden, Jordan, and Isabella, and four dogs!
Hayden, the oldest of the Zavareei siblings, graduated from Elon
University in May 2020 and will be attending University of Michigan
School for Environment and Sustainability in the fall. She enjoys
reading, gardening, yoga, hiking, cooking, traveling and working
with her charitable organization, Hayden’s Journey of Inspiration
(HJI). Jordan graduated from Duke University in December of 2020
and is currently taking pre-vet classes. She enjoys playing guitar,
reading, working out and thrifting vintage clothing. Jordan was a
star basketball player at WJ, and scored over 1,000 points during
her four years on the varsity team! Isabella, who prefers to go by
Izzy will be starting her sophomore year at Virginia Commonwealth
University Art School(VCUArts) in the fall. She enjoys makeup
artistry, painting, collecting crystals and singing. Izzy is a freelance
makeup artist, and has done professional makeup for photos
featured in the Washington Post, engagement photos, Halloween
parties, proms and other special events. And the family is complete
with Coconut, a fifteen and a half year old Mini Goldendoodle,
Betty, a nine month year old Havipoo, Clarise, a six month Cavapoo,
and Snowflake, an almost sixteen year old Ragdoll!

N atalie and Hassan went to college only 30 minutes apart,
with Hassan at Duke and Natalie at NC State. But, in a funny
twist of fate, the couple did not meet until they both moved
thousands of miles away to LA after college. Only when they were
both working as flight attendants with Delta Airlines and living in
LA did mutual flight attendant friends introduced them. From that
moment on, they worked and traveled together exploring various
