The Forest Preserve District of Kane County was formed June 8, 1925. Our mission is to acquire, hold and maintain lands within OAKHURST Kane County that contribute to the preservation of natural and historic resources, habitats, flora and fauna; and to restore, restock protect and preserve such lands for the education, recreation and pleasure of all Kane County citizens. These species are likely on your property and we need your help to get rid of them. Join us to learn how to identify and manage the most common invasive species in Kane County, with a focus on non-native honeysuckle and buckthorn. During this workshop, we'll explain why these plants are so devastating to our landscape; teach you how to identify invasives; propose the most effective management techniques for controlling them; and show you wonderful native alternatives to plant in their place.
