Carson Valley Footprinter May 2021 Page Three Ron Pierini — Second Vice President From the 2nd Vice President I think it's safe to say that everyone appreciated Douglas County Sheriff Sgt. Berna- dette Smith for being our April 15th speaker. Learning about the "Good Neighbor Program" and how much of an impact they make in disadvantaged Senior Citizen's lives, personally warms my heart. Over the past five years, Bernadette and 45 vol- unteers have made a huge difference in assisting over 193 clients. Again, I thank Sgt. Smith and their volunteers for what they are doing. Ron Pierini Our May speaker will be member Greg Brown. Greg has done extensive research into the importance of the Stagecoach in the Carson Valley, in particular how it re- lated to Genoa. The Pioneer Stage route followed the old trail between Placerville, California, over the Sierra past South Lake Tahoe, to Genoa, Nevada. He will be speaking about the history of the significant role Genoa played as a major stagecoach stop as the West was settled. He will also be showing a video he has put together. Greg is forming a committee who plans on obtaining a Stagecoach for Genoa. This will be located in Mormon Station State Park and will serve as an exhibit and point of interest for Nevada’s Oldest Settlement. Ron Virginia Irlikis — Secretary From the Secretary We will hold the annual IFA #72 Picnic this year. It will be on Sunday, July 18th at Mormon Station. See the flyer on page 5 of this newsletter for additional details. NOTE: Please RSVP to me not later than Sunday, July 11th so we can plan accordingly. Virginia Irlikis Virginia
