Principal’s Message Calendar
Dear Parent/ Carer Week 9
We have had an amazing response in the last week from our 28/3 - Assembly at 2:30pm
families in several different areas.
                                                                      Week 10 - Parent/Teacher
Our Stewart House bag drive has been well received. The interviews held this week.
admin classroom is full of bags from our generous families!
Bags are being collected next Monday so last chance to 1/4 - Stewart House bag
bring your bags in will be this Friday.
                                                                      collection day
Last weekend, our P&C ran an amazing BBQ and cake stall 2/4 - P&C meeting 7pm in
at school during voting hours. It was an amazing response
from our families in both time and produce. A massive thank school library
you to all of our parents, and especially out P&C executive
for this wonderful fund raiser. The school has already put 4/4 - Assembly at 2:30am
together a list of Year 3 resources that the funds will be able
to be put towards.
                                                                      Week 11 - Parent/Teacher
                                                                      interviews held this week.
Just a friendly reminder that supervision on school grounds
begins at 8:40am. If you require your child to be cared for 11/4 - Easter Hat Parade
earlier that 8:40am, please see Gina at Squiggler who will be Special Event - 9:30am
able to help you sign up for their service.
                                                                      12/4 - ANZAC Day
I would also like to remind all parents that they need to be ceremony time TBA
responsible for their children if they remain after school on
the school grounds. Interactions for Squiggler students and
other students after school can be fun, but can also cause
issues for the Squiggler carers. Please note that Squiggler
staff are unable to interact with children who are not under Term 1 ends
their care. I would also like to request that parents move onto
other locations by 4pm. This allows Squiggler children to be
                                                                             Friday 12 April.
supervised carefully on our playground by the carers. Thank -
you for your cooperation in this matter.
                                                                          Students return for

Warm Regards,
                                                                           Tuesday 30 April

Premier's Reading Challenge
Tips for parents and carers for participating in the Challenge

D Find out the name(s) of your school’s Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) coordinator(s) and how they
       plan to administer the Challenge.
D Familiarise yourself with the new PRC student website. There is a video on the PRC Support site that
you can watch that demonstrates how login, search for books and add them to a Student Reading Record
 (SRR).
D Visit the Premier’s Reading Challenge Support website. It allows you to search for information
about the PRC and how to use the PRC website and also how to contact the PRC team.
D Set reminders for Challenge opening and closing dates in your and your child’s calendar.
D Find out your child’s logon details. For public schools, students’ logon will be the same one they use to
access computers and the internet at school. Non-government students will need to contact the PRC
Coordinator at their school if they cannot remember their login details.
D Assist your child to borrow books from the school or local library. Listen to your child read and talk
about the story/ characters/ information. Read to or with your child if she/he is participating in the K-2
       Challenge.
D Help your child to add books to her/his Student Reading Record regularly.
D Follow The Arts Unit on Facebook and the NSW PRC on Instagram to keep up to date about
information about the Challenge throughout the year. We regularly run contests and Author events
your child may be interested in taking part in.
D Contact your child’s PRC coordinator if:
 Your child has any difficulty using her/his logon details to access the PRC website.
 You are concerned that your child’s name is spelt incorrectly in the PRC website.

 If you need to check your child’s Challenge history, please contact your child’s PRC coordinator.
D Your child’s online Student Reading Record must have the required number of books recorded to
complete the Challenge by the student closing date. School PRC coordinators have an extra two
weeks to validate the SRR. Only students with a validated SRR are eligible for a certificate.
D In the final weeks of the Challenge, log on regularly to the website to check the status of your
child’s SRR. Contact your child’s PRC coordinator if you are concerned your child’s SRR has not been
       validated.

        Kyeemagh Public School project
A project is underway to redevelop Kyeemagh Infants School into a primary school to
provide additional new permanent teaching spaces and upgrade core facilities to address
        enrolment growth.

        Progress Summary
Concept design has been completed and the project team continues to work closely with
school stakeholders through the schematic design phase.
        Kyeemagh Public School upgrade
The State Significant Development Application (SSDA) was lodged with the Department of
Planning and Environment (DPE) this month. We anticipate to have planning approval by
early 2020. The main works tender will advertised in May of this year and the contract is
expected to be awarded in July.
Early landscaping works on the community gardens began last month.
Pending planning approval, main construction works are scheduled for completion in late
        2021.

        Keeping you updated
Throughout the project we will continue to keep you updated and provide opportunities for
        you to get involved.
We thank you for your patience during these works and we are thrilled to deliver this project
        for the school community.
