The Urlingford native, an eight-time All-Ireland senior hurling TAGGY TO LEAD winner has accepted the honour bestowed by the St Patrick’s Day committee and will follow many other sporting and community figures to step it out on the route from the Market Yard, starting at 1.30pm, through High Street past the reviewing stand on the ST PATRICK’S Parade, through Rose Inn Street and finishing once again in the Market Yard. The parade will be followed for the first time by a major street party in John Street on the ‘continent’ side of the River Nore. This will include live music by some of Ireland’s best groups, DAY PARADE including Kila and the new Kilkenny samba band, food stalls, face-painting, set dancing and DJ more. And it was a Kilkenny dancer who topped the scoreboard on the night. Kilkenny All-Ireland hurler Aidan Fogarty waved goodbye to his usual professional dance partner Emily Barker, for one week, and took to the floor with Kylee Vincent. They danced the Cha-Cha-Cha to Feels Like Home by Sigala. It was a rare blip in dancing form from the usually impressive hurler turned dancer. Afterwards a very honest Aidan admitted “maybe tonight wasn’t my best”.
