9. GERMAN AMERICAN BUSINESS DAY July 16, 2018 • 10am - 6pm INTRODUCTION When it began, Google’s corporate code of conduct motto was: “Don’t be evil.” Today, many question both the accuracy and rel- evance of that slogan. Today’s global business environment pre- sents current firms, the upcoming generation of students enter- ing the workforce, and would-be entrepreneurs with completely new challenges. The 9th Annual Business Day is dedicated to exploring and navi- gating potentially successful paths to the future of business vs. the business of the future. It also will link those paths to the German-American Student Ex- change Program and incorporate presentations from former and current U.S. student interns in their first two months in Germany. Our speakers will discuss, among other topics: The emerging role of new technology (i.e. blockchain and cryptocurrencies) in the future economy What are the growth jobs of the future? How will Big Data and Artificial Intelligence change how we work and do business, and What are the potential limits on future economic growth?
9. GERMAN AMERICAN BUSINESS DAY July 16, 2018 • 10am - 6pm Particularly in the German-American business relationship, we must face the new challenges that will help define the jobs and business opportunities of the future. This includes anticipating the requirements and skill sets needed by young workers and the moral and ethical considerations that businesses must confront. In other words, what will it mean to “do no evil” in the future working environment? International com- pliance, German-American management principles, the future role of social media, the impact of an aging workforce, new con- ceptions of business ethics all are setting a new agenda. Ethical considerations inevitably will play a role in this evolving future. Finally, a critical focus of the event will be exploring the future of the German-American Student Exchange Program and the exist- ing student internship program. www.german-american-exchange.com www.german-american-exchange.de
