The new year is the best time to join a troop for lots of reasons, such as: • You can help decide what troop activities and events to plan and participate in for the year! • You can be a part of troop leadership. • You can spend time in an all-girl environment which provides a safe space to try new activities, stumble with them, and get back up determined to accomplish them. • You can decide which of the 137 merit badges you want to earn first - there are a lot of choices in sports, STEAM, history, trades, outdoor skills, and more! • You can aspire to be an Eagle Scout, an honor only 4% of Scouts BSA members achieve - although Troop 513 here at Saint Ambrose has over 50% of boys achieve the rank of Eagle! Scouts BSA has had a home at Saint Ambrose for over 50 years and the parish is excited to welcome and support a new Girl Troop. Scouting provides youth with programs and activities that allow them to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence, take personal responsibility, and reinforce ethical standards. With an emphasis on these 5 key areas, youth learn more about themselves as individuals while developing high self-esteem as well as academic, citizenship, and leadership skills that will last a lifetime. Scouts BSA offers all youth the opportunity to explore the world outside of their family, their school, and their neighborhood and challenges them to grow into exceptional women and men. With a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities, events, and programming, Scouts BSA has a place for every girl.
