The Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he su ered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. Discipleship Prayer Merciful Father, As disciples of Jesus we trust that nothing we do for you is small in your eyes. May all of our deeds be done with love, trusting that they are enough. Help us to bring all your children home to you. We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen! What Child Is This 1. What child is this, who, laid to rest, 2. Why lies he in such mean estate On Mary’s lap is sleeping? Where ox and ass are feeding? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, Good Christian, fear: for sinners here While shepherds watch are keeping? The silent Word is pleading. Refrain 3. So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh, This, this is Christ the King, Come peasant, king, to own him; Whom shepherds guard and angels sing; The King of kings salvation brings, Haste, haste to bring him laud, Let loving hearts enthrone him. The babe, the son of Mary. Text: 87 87 with refrain; Bramley and Stainer’s Christmas Carols New and Old, 1871; William C. Dix, 1837–1898. Music: Trad. This star drew nigh to the northwest, Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay; O’er Bethlehem it took its rest, In fields where they lay keeping their sheep, And there it did both stop and stay, On a cold winter’s night that was so deep. Right over the place where Jesus lay. Refrain 5. Then entered in those wise men three, Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Full rev’rently upon the knee, Born is the King of Israel. And o ered there, in his presence, 2. They looked up and saw a star Their gold and myrrh and frankincense. Shining in the east, beyond them far; 6. Then let us all with one accord And to the earth it gave great light, Sing praises to our heav’nly Lord; And so it continued both day and night. Who with the Father we adore 3.
