Go to Podcast #014 “… parents have a sacred responsibility to teach their children the importance of God [and Jesus Christ] in their lives.”12 When we accept the Savior’s invitation to “come and see,” we need to abide in Him, immersing ourselves in the scriptures, rejoicing in them, learning His doctrine, and striving to live the way He lived. Only then will we come to know Jesus Christ, and recognize His voice. Careful versus Casual Becky Craven Second Counselor in Young Women General Presidency As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are blessed to know how and where true happiness is found. It is found in carefully living the gospel established by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and in striving to become more like Him. ©Copyright 2019 Page 8 of 23 3rd30.com/HIC with Dug Barnett
Go to Podcast #014 The vision of the tree of life shows us how the effects of casualness can lead us away from the covenant path. (1 Nephi 8; 15) We are disciples of Jesus Christ, and as such we are about elevating others, lifting them to a higher, holier place where they too can reap greater blessings. We can rationalize all we want, but the fact is, there is not a right way to do the wrong thing! Answers to Prayer Brook P. Hales Of the Seventy When we honor our covenants and strive to be more like our Savior, we are entitled to a constant2stream of divine guidance through the influence and inspiration of the Holy Ghost. He blesses us not only according to our desires and needs but also according to His infinite wisdom. Sometimes He needs you to ©Copyright 2019 Page 9 of 23 3rd30.com/HIC with Dug Barnett

Christopher Waddell Second Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric President Russell M. Nelson, a Prophet, [asked] each of us to care for our brothers and sisters in a “higher, holier way.”3 Speaking of the Savior, President Nelson taught that “because it is His Church, we as His servants will minister to the one, just as He did. We will minister in His name, with His power and authority, and with His loving-kindness.”4 “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”10 ©Copyright 2019 Page 11 of 23 3rd30.com/HIC with Dug Barnett

Go to Podcast #014 The True, Pure, and Simple Gospel of Jesus Christ President M. Russell Ballard Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles Even though we cannot control those external forces that impact our lives here on earth, as we strive to become faithful disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we can find peace, joy, and happiness despite the worldly troubles that swirl around us. Sin and transgression dim the Light of Christ in our lives. “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart. … Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”10 Seeking Knowledge by the Spirit Mathias Held Of the Seventy Our mind produces one perception through our physical senses and through our reasoning. But through the gift of the Holy Ghost, [Heavenly] Father has also provided us with a second perspective, which is really the most important and true one because it comes directly from Him. ©Copyright 2019 Page 15 of 23 3rd30.com/HIC with Dug Barnett
Go to Podcast #014 But since the whisperings of the Spirit are often so subtle, many people are not consciously aware of that additional source. “By the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.”5 The Eye of Faith Neil L. Andersen Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles “What is truth?” (John 18:36-38) “Truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come.” (Doctrine and Covenants 93:24) “Prophets see ahead. They see the harrowing dangers the adversary has placed or will yet place in our path. Prophets also foresee the grand possibilities and privileges awaiting those who listen with the intent to obey.” (Russell M. Nelson) 19 ©Copyright 2019 Page 16 of 23 3rd30.com/HIC with Dug Barnett
Go to Podcast #014 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) Feasting upon the Words of Christ Takashi Wada Of the Seventy “feast upon the words of Christ,” they “will tell [us] all things [we] should do” (2 Nephi 32:3) First, the words of Christ can help us “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation” (Russell M. Nelson, Ensign or Liahona, May 2018, 96) Second, when we struggle with our own identity and lack of self- esteem, the “pleasing word of God” (Jacob 2:8) in the scriptures will help us know who we really are and give us strength beyond our own. Third, we can lift the lives of others through the words of Christ. ©Copyright 2019 Page 17 of 23 3rd30.com/HIC with Dug Barnett
Go to Podcast #014 Feasting upon the words of Christ can happen at any time and on any occasion if we prepare our hearts. Hearing His Voice David P. Homer Of the Seventy [At] critical moments in our lives, we will hear multiple voices competing for our attention. [It] is vital that we listen to the right ones. If we are not careful, the wrong voices can draw us away from the gospel … President Thomas S. Monson once taught: “We watch. We wait. We listen for that still, small voice. When it speaks, wise men and women obey.”21 If we are diligent, [He] will give us the direction we seek, the strength we need, and the happiness we all desire. The more diligently we seek His voice, the easier it becomes to hear. It is not that His voice gets louder but that our ability to hear it has increased. ©Copyright 2019 Page 18 of 23 3rd30.com/HIC with Dug Barnett

Holland Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles Our modified Sunday service is to emphasize the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper as the sacred, acknowledged focal point of our weekly worship experience. “Wherefore, … thou shalt repent and call upon God in the name of the Son forevermore.” (Moses 5:8-9) “… Ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And whoso cometh unto me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, him will I baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost. … (3 Nephi 9:20) … Join the Great Physician [the great and merciful and holy Lamb of God] in His never-ending task of lifting the load from those who are burdened and relieving the pain of those who are distraught. I testify to you that God has called Prophets in our day.
