On this 6-Night itinerary, you'll experience the north coast and mountain regions of County Antrim & County Londonderry. This holiday kicks off with horseback riding in the Irish countryside before heading to the famous Causeway Coast. Heralded for its beauty and spectacular scenery, the Causeway Coastal Route includes some of Northern Ireland’s top iconic locations: The Giants Causeway, Dunluce Castle, Carrick A Rede Rope Bridge, and Mussendun Temple. This detailed itinerary highlights each day, the nights are to do as you wish. If you are a fan of creative & classically inspired cuisine, then you are going to love Ireland’s food scene! Irish dishes made with locally sourced ingredients or caught fresh straight from coastal waters make each meal a culinary adventure! Our hand-picked B&B accommodations offer en suite bathrooms, cozy beds, and a superb full Irish breakfast! The goal of each B&B host is to ensure you have a lovely stay. You will be treated like family, so make yourself at home! - how to get here - This riding vacation takes place in County Antrim on the North Coast of Northern Ireland. Guests can fly into Dublin City or Belfast International Airport. (Once in country, guests may hire a car, use private transport, or public transportation to travel to the North Coast.) (Daily transport to and from ride locations on North Coast are arranged & included in package price) - our horses - Ireland is known as the “Land of the Horse” so it is no surprise that Irish horses are reputed the world over for their amazing jumping ability, gentleness, intelligence, and stamina. The equine teams consist of Irish Sport Horses, Connemara Ponies, Irish Cobs, Irish Draughts, and even a Clydesdale! - day one - THE CAUSEWAY COASTAL ROUTE Welcome to Ireland! Make your way to the magnificent North Coast of Northern Ireland! Your journey begins on the famous Causeway Coastal Route, lauded as one of the “Top 5 Road Journeys in the World.’ This beautiful drive will give you a taste of the rugged coastlines and sweeping sea views you'll experience over the course of your riding holiday. Arriving at your B&B destination, the afternoon & evening is yours to do what you wish. Your B&B is located in a coastal village with plenty of local restaurants and lively pubs to explore! Overnight: Coastal B&B, County Antrim - day two - THE FARM, THE CROAGHAN Arrive at the private farm of your North coast hosts where you’ll meet the horses & guides and enjoy afternoon tea with freshly baked scones! After a stable tour, head outdoors for a brief riding assessment, its time to hit the hills! This trek crosses verdant pasturelands and a stream or two before climbing up onto the moorland high above the farm for a magnificent five county view of Northern Ireland! Afterwards, ride towards a quiet off-road trail to climb higher and further out into the Antrim Hills. You'll get a chance to stretch your legs as you lead the horses across heather-blanked fields before remounting and connecting to a riding trail that leads to a summit called "The Croaghan." With a 360-degree panorama, the view from the summit is widely regard as one of the best views in Northern Ireland -- if not the whole of Ireland! From 'The Croaghan', views includes Glens of Antrim and looking north to Scotland and Scotland's Ayrshire Coast, Mull of Kintyre, Scottish Highlands, and the Western Isles. You'll also see Rathlin Island, an island of the coast of County Antrim and the northernmost point in Northern Ireland. From this viewpoint, relish the views of three different countries! At the end of the day, you will be transported to your accommodations in County Londonderry. (Picnic/Afternoon Tea) Overnight: Castlerock, County Londonderry
- day three - DOWNHILL BEACH, MUSSENDEN TEMPLE, BINEVENAGH Today's ride begins high on the hills of Binevenagh Mountain, riding down country roads to the white sands of Downhill Beach. With a magnificent mountain backdrop, cliff scenery, and views across to Scotland & County Donegal, it is the perfect setting for a swift canter across mile of flat open beach towards Mussenden Temple, regally perched above the mighty Atlantic. You'll sneak through the Bishops Gate for a closer look at the magnifient Downhill Demesne. The afternoon is spent riding on Binevenagh Mountain & Forest towards Binevenagh Lake enjoying expansive views over the coast to Lough Foyle, Donegal, Derry City & the Antrim Hills. It is the perfect end to a day in County Londonderry! (Breakfast + Lunch) Overnight: Coastal B&B, County Antrim -DAY FOUR - WHITEROCKS BEACH, DUNLUCE CASTLE, THE GIANTS CAUSEWAY Today's ride begins at Whitrocks Beach in Portrush. Famous for its white sand beaches (and neighboring Royal Portrush Golf Club), Whiterocks looks out over the Skerries, Donegal and the Western Isles of Scotland. . a ruined medieval castle perched high on the cliffs From Portrush, you'll ride to Iconic Dunluce Castle, above the Atlantic. Enjoy refreshments & tour the ruins before heading to the coastal town of Portballintrae and ending the day at the UNESCO world-heritage site, The Giants Causeway. -DAY FIVE - WHITEPARK BAY, BALLINTOY, CARRICK-A-REDE- ROPE BRIDGE Today’s ride begins at Whitepark Bay, located near the picturesque village of Ballintoy. Ride up sandy dunes and lush, private farmlands towards the small fishing village of Ballintoy. Enjoy lunch at a traditional Irish tearoom that sits in an idyllic, rural area surrounded by grazing cows & sheep on one side, and the mighty Atlantic on the other. Expect good, straightforward, locally-sourced main dishes such as seafood chowder or Irish stew and, quite literally, the best homemade desserts in Ireland! Ballintoy Harbour was mainly associated with salmon fishing. Game of Thrones fans may recognize the harbour as the setting for the Iron Islands and Lordsport in the Isle of Pyke. Like most places along the north coast, the views from here are spectacular and offer some amazing photo opportunities. (Breakfast + Lunch) Overnight: Coastal B&B, County Antrim -DAY SIX - GLENS OF ANTRIM, GLENARRIF FOREST, CUSHENDUN The day begins in the hills above Ballycastle at the Vanishing Lake. Meander through ancient forests before making your way to the coastal village of Cushendun. The quaint village of Cushendun is a guest favorite-- ride along Cushendun Strand and pass the ruins of Carra Castle before arriving at the famous Cushendun Caves—an impressive system of caves formed over 400-million years ago. The day ends at the Glen of Glendum and beautiful Glendun River. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner with your riding hosts.
