Media Production and Analysis Teacher: Ric Holster Head of Arts General Media Production and Analysis The Media Production and Analysis General course aims to prepare students for a future in a digital and interconnected world by providing the skills, knowledge and understandings to tell their own stories and interpret the stories of oth- ers. Students are encouraged to explore, experiment and interpret their world, reflecting and analysing contemporary life, while understanding that this is done under social, cultural and institutional constraints. Students, as users and creators of media products, consider the important role of audiences and their context. This course focuses on the develment of technical skills ithe practical process. Photography Teacher Tracy Dyer-Jardine(DJ) Raegan Cooke Yr.11 2018 Pink Pinapple Contemporay Photography General Photography This course offers an insight into the both the contemporary (fine art) and commercial sides of photography. In Yr.11 students are introduced to the fundamentals of the course enabling them to develop the skills and techniques to follow a design brief and processes (investigation, ideation, design development, refinement, production and critical reflection) to produce client based photographic work. Students will learn camera functions and how they are used to create various affects and ap- ply it to their work. In Yr.12, students will extend on the skills and techniques developed in Yr.11 to create photographic work and a portfolio that demonstrates discerment in the application of the design process. Students will use Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe CC) apps such as Photoshop, Light- room to edit your photographs. Students will also use InDesign, a graphic design program and develop skills to produce a photographic portfolio of work for publication. Adobe CC is used world wide in the creative industry with a focus on the application of 21st centuray skills and techniques. Students will also have the opportunity to exhibit work through various avenues such as, Pinjarra Rotary Art Exhibition, Meta (selection process) through North Metropolitan TAFE and Young Originals(selection process), Edith Cowan University. Visual Ar ts Teacher Bronwyn Clark Tia Annandale Year 11 2016 Landscape Painting General Visual Art This course provides students with mostly practical work in areas of art, craft and design.Students have the opportunities to express their imagination and develop personal imagery, skills and engage in the making and presentation of artworks. Student artworks are exhibited in the Annual Rotary Art Exhibition, Young Artists Perspectives exhibition held at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre along with other exhibitions that come up through the year. Students also visit the Art Gallery of W.A. each year viewing Pulse the student exhibition as well as viewing works in and around the Gallery. The course assists students to value and develop confidence in their own creative abilities and to develop a greater understanding of their environment, culture and community. The Visual Arts course encourages students to develop problem-solving skills together with creative ways of thinking. Students will engage in traditional and new media areas which involve exploring, selecting and manipulating materials, techniques, processes and emerging technologies. Some of the con- texts that may be explored are traditional, modern and contemporary art forms and conventions, such as sculpture, painting, drawing, graphic design, printmaking, collage, video art, installations, textiles, photography, mon- tage, multimedia. Music Teacher Justin Gimm CUA20615 Certificate II in Music Industry (Performance Focus) If you’re interested in audio production + equipment, setting up stages and performing or just being involved in the music scene in general, the Music Industry Cer- tificate II (Performance Focus) is perfect for you. The course covers music-industry and performance-based skills over two years. You will have the opportunity to; perform regu- larly at various events, work with professional audio equipment, practice industry-based skills (audio production) and develop a deeper understanding of music as a whole. The Certificate II in Music Industry will help equip learners and prepare them for jobs in the future such as; Video and Sound Engineering, Recording Engineering, Music Direct- ing (Conducting), DJ work, Therapy and jobs similar to this. If you are wishing to enrol in this course, it is best to have at least a small back- ground in music with competency on an instrument (if you can sing, that counts!). If you are worried about having to perform in front of people, don’t fret. Collarts (people who write the course) offer alternative means of performing. General Music The Music General course encourages students to explore a range of musical experienc- es, developing their musical skills and understanding, and creative and expressive po- tential, through a selected musical context. The course consists of a written component incorporating Aural and Theory, Composing and arranging, Investigation and analysis, in addition to a practical component. The Aural and Theory content in the written component is generic, and can be adapted and extended to suit any selected context. The practi- cal component consists of three different options and can be delivered in a different context, independent of the written component. Students select only one option, and can choose to perform on an instrument or voice, submit a composition portfolio, or complete a production/practical project. The Music General course provides opportunities for creative expression, the development of aesthetic appreciation, and understanding and respect for music and music practices across different times, places, cultures and con- texts. Students listen, compose, perform and analyse music, developing skills to confi- dently engage with a diverse array of musical experiences both independently and collab- oratively. Murdoch University Bachelor (BA) of Creative Media in Sound Learn how to work in a recording studio.
