Thank you again and again for allowing us to provide top class musical entertainment and waiter served cuisine in a beautiful, welcoming setting for all these many years. Come see what awaits you in 2018. 2018 SEASON AT A GLANCE JANUARY 19 TO MARCH 2 TO APRIL 20 TO JUNE 8 TO FEBRUARY 24 APRIL 14 JUNE 2 JULY 14 JULY 20 TO SEPTEMBER 14 TO OCTOBER 19 TO NOVEMBER 30 TO SEPTEMBER 1 OCTOBER 13 NOVEMBER 24 DECEMBER 24
JANUARY 19 – FEBRUARY 24 In the current political climate of our country, the timeless message of Tony award-winning Ragtime is essential because it exemplifies the important role that ethnic diversity plays in the American experience. The musical follows three families in their pursuit of the American dream in the cultural “melting pot” of New York during the turn of the century. Over the course of the show, the worlds of a wealthy white couple, a Jewish immigrant father and his motherless daughter, and an African American ragtime musician intertwine, leading them all to make discoveries about themselves and each other. With one of the largest casts ever on the Candlelight stage, this poignant musical by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (My Favorite Year, Anastasia, Seussical) is sure to remind audiences what makes our country so great. RATED PG-13 ADDED THURSDAY PERFORMANCE ON FEBRUARY 22
MARCH 2 – APRIL 14 In this Broadway classic with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, Annie Oakley starts from humble beginnings, selling the game she hunts to support her little brother and sisters. With such impressive ability as a marksman she garners the attention of Col. Buffalo Bill, the man in charge of the famous Wild West Show. He persuades her to join the show and soon she falls in love with its star, shooting ace Frank Butler. But when Frank sees that she is becoming a bigger star than him, his bruised male ego leads him to take his act to another rival show, and Annie learns that “You Can’t Get A Man With A Gun”. The finale has the two sharpshooters and two Wild West shows merging and proving that “There’s No Business Like Show Business”! RATED PG ADDED THURSDAY PERFORMANCE ON APRIL 5
APRIL 20 – JUNE 2 Come and get “happy again” with our production of Singin’ in the Rain, a musical adapted from the 1952 movie of the same name. This wonderful story is set in Hollywood, at a time in which sound was first being included in professional motion pictures. To keep up with the quickly changing industry, Monumental Studios changes a silent film they were planning to make into a musical film. This creates an issue when they realize their star’s voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard! Through the trials and tribulations of making their movie the story reveals important questions about what it means to act, how credits are distributed, and what it means to get a fair shake in the movie business. Singin’ in the Rain also includes some of the best loved comedy routines, dance numbers, and love songs ever written, including “Good Mornin’”, “Make ‘em Laugh”, and of course, “Singin’ in the Rain”. JUNE 8 – JULY 14 Come and join us for this fabulous, award-winning musical based on the widely loved movie. Follow Elle Woods as she takes Harvard Law by storm with her Chihuahua. Despite joining the school to prove something to her ex, she quickly realizes her academic potential. With the support of her new peers she learns that she can be both smart and fashionable, and the power behind being “legally blonde”. With memorable songs and dynamic dances, this empowering musical is so much fun it should be illegal! RATED PG-13
JULY 20 – SEPTEMBER 1 As the daughter of the king of the sea, Ariel has always had everything she desires. But when a human prince shipwrecks in stormy waters she falls in love and begins yearning for more. She visits the potion-making Ursula the Sea Witch who promises to give her legs in exchange for her beautiful singing voice, but she must gain the love of Prince Eric within three days or lose her soul to the witch. This age-old fairytale was adapted from the movie of the same name, and contains many of the classic songs from the movie. Don’t miss out on this fun musical that is perfect for the whole family! SEPTEMBER 14 – OCTOBER 13 While the story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow’s deadly relationship is a part of Americana, this musical explores a more romantic perspective than the usual shoot-‘em up. In Depression- era Texas, the couple meets over Bonnie’s broken-down car. At this time in the story Bonnie is a waitress with aspirations to act in film, and Clyde Barrow just broke out of prison with his brother Buck. As two Texans with unbridled imagination, they begin robbing banks to make their dreams of fame come true. But as the duo become wanted fugitives, and their crimes escalate from robbery to murder, they find their way to the top of the nation’s list of public enemies. Bonnie & Clyde is a thrilling and sexy musical with a non-traditional score, combining blues, gospel and rockabilly music to a perfect, crowd-pleasing effect. This Tony-nominated musical from the legendary Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, Dracula, Civil War) is surely not one to be missed. RATED R ADDED THURSDAY PERFORMANCE ON OCTOBER 11
OCTOBER 19 – NOVEMBER 24 In the upside-down world of the Addams family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and death and suffering are the stuff of dreams. The daughter of the family, Wednesday, is now an eighteen year-old young woman who is ready to live a different life than that of her family. After falling in love with a normal boy from Ohio, she invites him and his family over to the Addams’ household. What follows is a quirky musical that investigates how important acceptance and love are in any family, even one like Wednesday’s. RATED PG ADDED THURSDAY PERFORMANCE ON NOVEMBER 15
NOVEMBER 30 - DECEMBER 24 In 1985, the Candlelight Pavilion hosted its first Christmas show, and for more than 30 years we have continued the tradition of writing and producing each of our Christmas shows with a focus on the spirit of the season and bringing family and friends together. We invite you to continue your Christmas traditions with us as we celebrate with an all-new story, The Perfect Christmas.
