SYDNEY WELCOMES SILVERTOP TAXIS Premier Cabs welcomes Silvertop Taxis to the Sydney market – offering more variety for customers and additional opportunities for drivers and operators. Silvertop is one of the great Australian iconic brands and it’s booking number 135 000 is universally recognised. The new Sydney-style livery is sure to turn heads…particularly once we start the advertising and marketing of the new brand. Silvertop Taxis will operate as one of the additional brands in the Premier general fleet. Premier Cabs’ Managing Director, Peter Hyer urges drivers and operators to be part of the new fleet. “It’s an opportunity which has arisen out of our buyout from the Gange Corporation, and allows Premier to leverage a great Australian brand in a new marketplace. "I encourage any drivers or operators interested in joining the new fleet to call Robert or Sean on 8868 4246,” said Mr Hyer. Insurance &Workshop INSURANCE NEWS – update from Mary Workers Compensation Insurance It is against the law to bail a taxi, even for just one shift, if the operator does not have Workers Compensation Insurance. Davynce There are premiums for full time drivers and a pro rata premium if you Maroyf Insur a only bail the taxi to a driver on average for 2 shifts or less per week. Head The Insurance Team at Granville can assist with any queries and policy needs. Insurance Fraud Insurance fraud is not just a problem in the taxi industry, but wherever it occurs it ends up translating into higher premiums for everyone. If you are aware of anyone rorting the system, report them to your insurance company – particularly if the rort is the result of an accident and ends with an insurance claim. If you are involved in an accident, make sure you note down the exact damage on all vehicles and property involved – take a photo if possible as this will assist in ensuring you don’t end up with a higher premium because someone decides to inflate the claim for damage that wasn’t a result of the accident. DENNIS’ WORKSHOP TIPS Keypad Cradles Please keep your keypad cradle clean and free of dust and grime if you wish to avoid problems with charging it. is M a vroid Built up dirt will stop the keypad contacts properly connecting with the enni s shop batteries and it will appear that there is no charge. D Work To clean the cradle, just use an anti-static cloth. Batteries A fully functioning car battery can be the difference between getting radio work and not – so make sure the terminals are not loose and that they are free from corrosion. Cheap batteries are not always a saving in the longer-term as they may not last as long as you wish or they may fail to power every item in the taxi. If you need some advice about what sort of battery is best for a taxi, talk to the staff in the Workshop. PREMIERPOST 8
