Swiss National Jamboree 2021 Don’t miss out on the adventure of a lifetime at the Swiss National Jamboree. Taking place in the Goms Valais, Switzerland in Summer 2021! This is a chance to share a camp with 25,000 Scouts from around the world in a stunning area of Switzerland. West Lancashire Scouts are looking for the next 36 young people to experience their biggest adventure yet! • To be eligible for the trip you must have been born between 10th August 2003 and 22nd July 2007. • The Jamboree will take place from the 24th July to the 7th August 2021, following which we will spend 48 hours in France on our return journey. Arriving back in the UK on Monday 9th August. • Participants will travel to Switzerland by coach Important Information • The deadline for application forms is midnight on Sunday 19th April 2020. • Late applicants will not be accepted. • All applicants will be invited to a mandatory selection weekend at Waddecar Scout Centre on Friday 24th April until Saturday 25th April 2020. • The Training weekends and Parents evenings are compulsory and must be attended in full by all participants. • The cost of a Jamboree should never be an obstacle to stopping a young person applying, with fundraising and grants everyone should be able to go. • This trip will cost £1250.00. There will be staged payments to allow for fundraising. • Additional costs will be charged for each training weekend which there is 4.
The Swiss Jamboree This is your opportunity to take part in a UK exclusive international adventure attending the Swiss National Jamboree set in the stunning mountain valleys of the Goms Valais, Switzerland. The theme for the Jamboree is Everything in Motion. You will be challenged both physically and mentally to achieve personal progress and broaden your horizons. As participants we will move with other scouts, experiencing different languages and cultures from around the world. Together we will make a difference. Following on from the jamboree, the unit will return home via a coastal location in France for 48 hours to unwind and reflect on the amazing adventure we have had as a unit. Leadership Team The Unit leaders are there to guide and support you through your Jamboree adventure. We will help prepare you through our training weekends so that your trip is fun and enjoyable throughout. The Leadership team is headed up by Matt Fishwick, Matt has been in Scouting since he was 6 years old and has had many roles as an adult. For b the past 7 years he has been an Explorer Leader, and more recently the District Explorer Scout Commissioner for Chorley.
Supporting Matt, we have an amazing team. Karl has been a Scout leader in Preston for the last 5 years, taking on several other roles including assistant Beaver leader, Cub leader and Assistant Group Scout Leader along the way. More recently Karl was on the 24th World Scout Jamboree leadership team. Amy has been involved in Scouting since joining as an Explorer Scout. She has held several adult roles and is currently a Cub leader and Deputy DC in Chorley. Amy has participated in several international events both in the UK and abroad. George is currently an Explorer Scout in Chorley, a County Young Leader for West Lancs and will be turning 18 in July. George was on last year’s World Scout Jamboree so will bring leadership qualities from the YP point of view. Amy has just turned 18, continuing as a scout leader in Fylde after completing explorer scouts. Amy has been in both scouting and guiding for the past 13 years contributing as both a young leader and participant. Amy attended the World Scout jamboree last summer, allowing her to bring all the excitement of her last adventure to the upcoming Swiss adventure.
