What is Crimestoppers?
• Crimestoppers Trust was founded by our Chairman, Lord
  Ashcroft, in 1988

• Crimestoppers is an independent charity which helps the
police and other law enforcement agencies to solve crimes,
  making communities safer

• We do this by operating the 24/7 telephone number 0800
555 111 which people can ring to pass on information about
  crimes anonymously

• Information can also be sent online via our
  website.
                    www.crimestoppers-uk.org

Why Crimestoppers ?
There are a number of motives for callers using
    Crimestoppers.
• Fear of reprisals.
• Lack of trust in reporting incidents to police.
• A dislike of the police and the authorities..
• Reward
The majority of information passed is about
    neighbourhood issues affecting local residents.

Successful Campaigns
• The 'too much bling, give us a ring' campaign has been running since
February 2006, in a partnership between Leicestershire Crimestoppers
  and the Leicestershire Constabulary.
• During an 8-day period in 2012, 24 people were arrested for money laundering, drugs offences, theft of
    vehicles, fraud and burglary
• £53,900 in cash was recovered
• £195,000 worth of vehicles were seized
• 5 cannabis factories were closed down. 1,100 cannabis plants were destroyed, that would have had a street
    value of £1million
• 1 stun gun was recovered

• Leicestershire Crimestoppers, working in partnership with Leicestershire Constabulary, launched a traffic
campaign encouraging the public to call with information relating to drink drivers, disqualified drivers
    and drivers with no documents.
• As a result of this campaign:
• 32 drink drivers were arrested and charged
• 32 disqualified drivers were arrested and charged
• 70 people were arrested and charged for other traffic offences
