Dear Friends of YMCA Camp Kitchikewana, We know you are likely missing camp and are disappointed in the news that we will not be operating our traditional overnight camp as you all know and love. While we can’t be together in a typical overnight camp setting, we’re excited to be offering a Cabin Rental program at Camp Kitchikewana this year. For all 9 weeks of the summer, our cabins and site will be available for families to enjoy together. We wanted to give families and campers a way to enjoy camp that is as safe as possible, and can’t wait to welcome our awesome community back to Beausoleil Island this summer. The health and safety of our campers and families remains our highest priority, and we are committed to welcoming our community back to Beausoleil Island in a way that is safe and follows all recommended practices and public health guidance. See you soon, Julia Fulton Director, YMCA Camp Kitchikewana Camp.kitchikewana@sm.ymca.ca 705-325-2253 ext. 651
Accommodations Each family will have a cabin to themselves. Regular cabins sleep 10 (5 bunk beds). If you’ve never been to Kitchikewana before, you can expect a rustic and traditional camp cabin, equipped with lights, outlets, shelves, and a large porch. Toilets and showers are shared for all cabins. To minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, we will assign specific shower and toilet stalls for each family to use. Premium cabins include The Deach, our Leadership Cabins, and the Triplex. These cabins are larger, and include more space and beds. Food Service Food service will be provided. Families can expect 3 meals and 2 snacks per day. We will be providing meals that are family friendly, fulsome and nutritious. Food service will likely be take-out style, with families collecting food from the dining hall to enjoy at outdoor picnic tables or their cabin porches. Activities Families can look forward to utilizing our many facilities and activities. Mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, crafts, the jumping tower, and the waterfronts will be available for participants. Most programs will be self-led; staff will be available to ensure the safe operating of activities, but will not be available for instruction or facilitation. Some activities may only be available during designated periods during the day. Families can expect lifeguards to be on duty at scheduled points throughout the day to ensure a safe waterfront experience. Outside of those scheduled times, families may access our waterfronts in the designated swim areas at their own risk. Swimming and boating is prohibited after dark.
