June 2019 Welcome to the June 2019 edition of Stockport Business Bulletin, providing an overview of investment, news and networking opportunities in Stockport. Join the Clean Air Conversation In Greater Manchester, we need to clean up the air we all breathe. Dirty air from road transport can seriously damage our health and plays a part in thousands of deaths every year. Along with other major cities across the country, Greater Manchester needs to reduce air pollution to legal levels as quickly as possible. The 10 local councils in Greater Manchester are developing a Clean Air Plan to tackle this major risk to our health. The proposals include a Clean Air Zone, alongside major government funding to clean up the region’s most-polluting vehicles. This would mean the most polluting vehicles, including buses, coaches, lorries, vans, taxis, private hire vehicles, minibuses, motorhomes and motorised horseboxes, would pay a daily penalty to enter and/or travel within the Clean Air Zone.To find out more about the impact of the Clean Air Plan proposals on different vehicles, and to share your views through the online survey visit www.cleanairgm.com
