Page Three St. Peter, Lewiston & St. Bernard, Youngstown February 16, 2020 Message from our Principal As you know, we celebrate Mass each week as a school family the classes choose the theme for the Mass. Last week our Mass focused on prayer and the many forms that it can take in our hearts, in our minds and on our lips. Father Jim Bastien celebrated Mass with us while Father Tom was on retreat, and he shared a powerful image with all of us about growing up and prayer in his home. Each night before he went to bed, Father Jim would remove his shoes and place them at the foot of his bed in the shape of a “T”. Because he is Father Jim, he actually sat down on the altar and took off his The Mass Intention Book for 2021 is now shoes and shaped them as he had described. He asked the children what shape it was and they said a “T.” But when asked if it could be open. To schedule a Mass, please call the anything else, the children quickly responded “a cross.” Father then rectory@754-4118 or stop in during office praised the children for that connection they made and said that each hours: Mon-Fri 9am to 4pm. night he placed the shoes in the shape of a cross at the foot of his bed Please note: and said a prayer. And then in the morning, when he woke up and The office is closed 12pm to 1pm for lunch. went to put on his shoes, he also said a prayer...and he follows that practice even today. What a real and simple way for the children to remember to pray each day, thanking the Lord for the many gifts He gives us as we awake in the morning, and as we get ready to rest for the night. Thank you Father Jim, for SHOWING us the power of prayer! This past Sunday February 9, our Grade 4 Faith Formation Class hosted First grade followed the theme as they wrote their own the 10:30 am Sunday Mass.
