DRIVE-THRU COOKIE "WALK" Saturday December 4, 2021 Starts at 10:00 (while supplies last) Cookies......cookies......Christmas cookies..... who doesn't love eating Christmas cookies ?
We are excited to bring back the annual St. Mark's cookie walk after a hiatus last year because of the pandemic. This 2021 version will be a drive-thru cookie "walk" where we will do the walking for you. You may purchase pre-selected and boxed varieties of homemade Christmas cookies starting at 10 am on the 4th on a first come, first serve basis until supplies run out - all from the convenience of your car. But first things first - we need dozens and dozens of cookies to fill those boxes!! We are asking for your generous donation of home made Christmas cookie favourites to help us in this task. Please take the time to look at and sign up on the poster which is located in the narthex. In the meantime, break out the recipe box and start thinking about the cookies you can contribute. There will be announcements in church and in the newsletter each week or you can speak to Donna Wignall or a member of the special events team if you have any questions. Look for one of us by the sign up sheet. We are at the start ......"Ladies and Gentlemen, start your ovens" Thank you on behalf of the Special Events team. Introducing Art for Climate Justice Meeting the challenge of the climate crisis takes creativity, community and fun on top of the science, policy and advocacy that defines so much of our work.
We hosted a collaborative project that brought together artists from diverse communities and backgrounds to share their perspectives on climate change. Their artwork paints a vivid, gripping and beautiful call for climate justice. Explore the Art for Climate Justice virtual gallery While world leaders gather in Glasgow for the UN climate conference, COP26, you can inspire action by postering your community with art for climate justice. We turned the original art pieces into posters that you can print and post in your community. Our goal is to get 250 volunteers (some from all provinces and territories) to post three to 10 posters. Will you join us? With the increasingly questionable ethics of social media, it’s important for us to find different ways to reach people. Since we have much digital communication in our lives already, it’s time to have some fun in real life and amplify in an old school way where algorithms don’t matter! There are 36 unique pieces of work that portray profound passions that drive climate ambition — what gives people hope, what terrifies them. Which ones resonate most with you? Will you post them to extend their possible impact? We’ll share more with you about COP26 next week as it kicks off, but for now, let’s focus on building the pressure for ambitious climate action by painting our towns with art for climate justice.
