A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK After many long months (Ash Wednesday was four months ago.), we are back into ordinary time. The color of our worship space is now green but the name nor the color means that our worship has become mundane. The word ordinary derives from the adjective ordinal, meaning counted time. Any Sunday that is not a solemnity is counted. This is the eleventh Sunday of ordinary time, which doesn’t often happen since it can be eclipsed by a post Easter solemnity. With the exception of the feast of the Assumption on August 15, every Sunday will be ordinary until the feast of Christ the King. It is tempting to minimize the significance of the Sunday Mass since the Archbishop has excused us from the obligation to attend Mass during the pandemic. The dispensation remains in place but if you have been vaccinated, I urge you to come and give yourself the opportunity to not only pray and receive the Eucharist but also to greet your fellow parishioners. Think of the Mass as an opportunity to be rejuvenated by the Word of God and the Blessed Sacrament, which affords you the grace to live your baptismal promises the rest of the week. Weeks ago, I lifted the requirement for making reservations. If possible, do make them so that your name can be entered on the sign-up sheet. We are still maintaining a registry of attendants until further notice. If you didn’t register, come anyway. We have yet to turn anyone away. Many parishioners I have not seen since the pandemic started, but once they start returning, we will adapt accordingly. Once the archdiocese dispenses the obligation for social distancing and allowing for coffee socials, I plan to return the pews to the church so that the hall can be used again for coffee socials. Hopefully that will happen this summer. In case you haven’t heard, Mass is now being offered on Saturday at 5:00pm and Sunday at 9:00am. Confessions anytime by appointment. Mass Intentions – Monday, June 14, Jim Grilliot (healing), offered by Larry and Jeanine Jesmer; Tuesday, June 15, Brad Smith (RIP), offered by Teresa Ondrak
