Youth, Holiday & Safe-Space Workshop Team: Michela Delamere is a Chef, restaurateur and cookery workshop facilitator based in South Hams, Devon, where she has lived and worked for the past 13 years. Growing up in Tuscany, Italy, where her family ran a hotel and restaurant, greatly influenced her passion for food and cookery. Over the years she has worked in a number of restaurants including her own wholefood cafe in the North West of England, before moving to Devon with her husband and son, in 2007. She worked as a teaching assistant at Bidwell Brook Special needs school for 6 years where she unlocked a passion for teaching cookery. Meet Mark Thorneywork AKA Chef T and DJ Mark T for the now infamous LOCKDOWN DISCO: “It makes me happy to work with young people, I love their honesty and energy. I like to try and keep fit, get outside in the great outdoors, love Leeds United and follow them passionately and I LOVE TO COOK. After training many years ago as a chef before I became a Youth Worker. Remember you cannot fail if you do not give up – I am dyslexic and face challenges everyday but will not fail although it might take me a bit longer.” Meet Rachel and Debs from Moor to Sea Music Collective Music is for everyone That’s what Rachel and Debs believes and that’s what they dedicate their time to making so. Come and explore music-making with experts. Paula Thomas of Singing Drum has been connecting people since 2012. Her aim is to uplift, empower and bring joy. A mother of three one attending Lifeworks she knows how to help people feel at ease. Her workshops will cover breathing techniques to relax and prepare the voice for singing in a fun way; and creating rhythmic games played with handmade instruments found around the house. The music we learn will keep us connected until it’s time to play our music together in real life. “Life is better when we move together” Dance in Devon works with state-of-the-art dance practitioners living and working in the SW. This Summer term they bring us Creative Movement, Street Dance and Digital Dance! Lift the Lid CIC helps to lift the lid on the potential of young people, especially anyone deemed to have special educational needs. Director, Matt Jefferies will be running sessions online AND in person this Summer Term; you’ll get a warm up and cool down & the chance to choose from a carousel of physical activity: Circuit training, Hula hoop, Zumba & Jogging. Fitness Instructor Sophie Carr is going to take us through our moves every week – classes will run in rotation: Yoga: Balances, strength poses and flow sequences - Zumba: A fun and energetic dance session great for staying fit and strong - Hula-hoop: Helps you get strong and improve coordination. If you haven’t got a hoop Sophie can make you one ☺ Ken has been volunteering with Lifeworks for the past 5 years, first cycling with us as a Velopark Veteran, now as moderator in Safe-Space. Before he retired Ken was an outdoor education volunteer working with Primary School pupils and D of E students. Ken’s putting his love of the outdoors to good use as we hike across Dartmoor in aid of YOUNG MINDS. Parkour Experiences Learn about the art of Parkour with experienced coaches who have great backgrounds in rock climbing, martial arts and breakdancing. The Mindful Choice Meet Jem and Emma Safe-Space Mindfulness Trainers. Mindfulness has many benefits and may help you focus, feel happier, and more at ease. It can also help you manage your worries and could help you sleep. Emma and Jem would love to meet you, teach you some mindfulness practices and have some fun! With all of these wonderful organisations we will celebrate fresh seasonal food from harvest to plate: Every week of the year, in all weathers, Food in Community volunteers collect and sort surplus fresh fruit, vegetables and other nutritious, sustainably produced food, then deliver food boxes to individual households and to charities and community groups across South Devon. They also glean surplus food directly from farmers’ fields. SW Family Values nurture the Orchard at Lupton, their Forest School Leaders provide stimulating outdoor activities for local families and organisations serving the community. Wild & Curious: facilitates playful & immersive wild food walks & courses in South Devon & beyond. Makes wild snacks & treats. Plant talking, walking & vegetative stalking. The High Nature Centre enhancing peoples mental and physical health increasing access to the countryside and wellbeing within the community. The Apricot Centre grow a wide range of Biodynamic and Organic produce including vegetables, fruit, jams, chutneys, juices and flours on their farm and provide a Wellbeing Service. Common Flora Everywhere and under our noses, some plants seem common to us and yet are extraordinary, humble, powerful and resilient. Our focus here is herbs and spices. 8
