SRA UPDATES FOR 2021 Kia ora, It always astonishes me how fast the year goes and that we’re already advancing towards the end of term 2. We are grateful as always to have your support, enjoy being out at your schools, and meeting your awesome students. As well as expos and school visits that provide opportunities for students to make informed future choices, we have some great upcoming events that your students also may be interested in... Campus Tours This is a great opportunity to explore both our Auckland and Manawatü campus and learn more about studying at Massey. During the one-hour tour led by a Massey staff member, you will get to explore some of the great learning, teaching and research facilities and social spaces available to Massey students. These are ideally suited for Year 11-13 high school students and their families and whänau. Students can register below. We always look forward to hosting your students on our campuses, as well having them tune in with us online. COURSE PLANNING Please send through any dates for course planning if you haven’t already. As always, October 1st is when our courses for 2022 will open for enrolment, but our course planning sessions can assist in preparing students in planning and selecting courses. We will also look to have Regional Course planning visits (in your community) as well as Virtual course planning sessions for any students who may have missed out. UPDATES FROM AROUND THE COLLEGES PACE Our delivery over the summer semester will predominantly be via distance with the exception of the core courses that will be offered via distance and internal (192040, 041, 042, 043) and 247007 Foundation Chemistry and 247008 Foundation Physics will be offered internal only. We will be adhering to the max 30 credit rule as of this year so this is going to have an impact on CFS students starting in July and new students to CUP SSHL as they will not be able to complete at the end of SSHL ready for Feb 2022. DISTANCE students in either programme with a Science pathway will have difficulty finding elective choices as we are not offering Foundation Chem or Foundation Physics by DIST (internal only). College of Health Massey Business School BACHELOR OF SOCIAL WORK BRINGING THE CURRICULUM TO LIFE - A MIX OF CONTEXTUAL AND APPLIED The School of Social Work will be changing the Bachelor of Social Work LEARNING AT ITS BEST. core course offerings in Auckland to block mode in 2022. It was a hard decision, nursing is more than just a job, what it means to be a nurse and what’s next for him career wise after it’s a lifestyle, but if I can continue to change and save lives so graduating. that my patients have the ability to change themselves, then this is the career for me. What does being a nurse mean to you? Nursing was never my first choice for a career, but when the opportunity came and I raised the idea to myself, something sat right with me. It was the care, support, and relationships that I could provide people. To me, it’s giving people the opportunity to improve What are your career goals? themselves so that they can improve their own people, family, and community around them. Ultimately my goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner. But what I really want to do with my career is be able to care for and educate My philosophy in nursing is that in order to provide meaningful care people about their own health and the health of others and their for people, we must build meaningful relationships and understand communities.
