($25.99) MA AND ME: A MEMOIR Ma and Me is a memoir by Cambodian American author and journalist Putsata Reang. A moving memoir of Reang’s relationship with her mother, Ma and Me chronicles Reang’s experience of being caught between her identity as a gay woman and the sense of love and duty she has for her mother. WE ARE THE CHANGING TIDE We are all interconnected with the earth. Highlighting Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian voices, our newest exhibit We Are The Changing Tide shares the past, present, and future of environmental justice movements in Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities. On view until February 19, 2023. TAKING CARE OF THE FOREST COLORING BOOK Get inspired with this bilingual coloring book for all ages in Olelo Hawai’i and English! This coloring book features beautiful drawings and fun facts about the native plant life of Hawai’i, and action steps that we can do to support a strong and healthy ecosystem. ($8.00) WE ARE WATER PROTECTORS We Are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom and illustrated by Michaela Goade is inspired by Indigenous people who are leading environmental justice movements across the United States and beyond. This picture book follows a young girl who stands up to protect her people and her planet. ($17.99) URBAN CASCADIA AND THE PURSUIT OF ENVRIONMENTAL JUSTICE Urban Cascadia and the Pursuit of Environmental Justice asks if progressive environmental ideals can be reached without recognizing the impact of colonialism and the essential work and message of Indigenous environmental activists. This volume examines environmental justice within the essential context of Indigenous sovereignty and the politics of environmental change. ($30)
THE INTERSECTIONAL ENVIRONMENTALIST This new release is a primer on how race, class, privilege, and environmentalism are all intertwined. Both a call to action and guide on next steps, activist Leah Thomas shares how environmental issues impact Black, Indigenous, and people of color the most, and that environmental injustices directly tie into issues of equality and civil rights we are still fighting for. ($25) REORIENT A new upcoming exhibit on Asian American immigrant artists opens June 10, 2022. Learn how artists Victor Kai Wong, Suchitra Mattai, Tuan Nguyen, and Jean Nagai share their personal immigration stories using art as a catalyst for both personal and collective cultural healing. WOVEN TOGETHER This exhibit on the local Burma/Myanmar diaspora experiences experiences has returned as an updated exhibit! On view until November 12, 2022. FORAI JEWELRY Forai (Friends of Refugees and Immigrants) works with refugee and immigrant women in St. Louis to help empower them economically and build a community of support. Support fair and ethically made jewelry handcrafted by refugee artisans with Forai! ($15-29) ESSENTIAL BURMESE Learn Burmese in a fun and practical way with Essential Burmese which teaches the language of everyday interactions. Essential Burmese also includes a pronunciation guide and introduction to Burmese grammar for beginners! ($19.95)
