Summer Box Leagues By Tony Garrett If you are unfamiliar with box league format, it is essentially a round robin, split up into divisions or boxes. You play other players in your box over a set period of time and at the end of each box cycle, players move up, down or remain in a box based on their results. Club members of all abilities are invited to join – the box leagues run through the summer and winter months and you can join the singles or doubles or both! The leagues are a great way to meet and play with other club members and matches a mixture of competitive games or just for fun! Unfortunately, the uncompleted winter boxes leagues prior to lockdown, regrettably will be cancelled and fresh draws will be made and announced. These will begin in mid-April and run through to the Club championships in July. Scoring in box leagues is slightly different from normal tennis matches – These be will explain once entries have been received. So, if you would like to play in summer box leagues, please contact Tony Garrett (tony.garrett@tapestry.co.uk), as soon as possible – closing date for entries is 15 April 2021 (it’s important to let Tony have your phone and email address when entering). Crescent Social Tennis By Nick Baker Our social tennis sessions are great opportunity for members to play other members in a friendly, slightly less competitive way and an excellent way to practice any coaching you may have had! Sessions take place across the week and weekends – check out our website for dates/times and it advisable to book a place, particularly during the summer months. Due to Covid-19 there are restrictions on numbers of players at any one session. The Club is also required to maintain a record of those attending for track & trace purposes, so until further notice you MUST book into a social tennis session via our website – www.crescenttennisclub.co.uk Some existing restrictions remain in force, so we ask you to follow these and maintain the continued requirement of social distancing on and off the courts and sanitizing your hands. It is likely that the clubhouse will remain closed. There is a protocol that matches are usually in the format of doubles and preferably mixed doubles where possible and sessions are open to all members of all abilities. When Covid-19 restrictions are eased; To help everyone get on court at some stage during a session, please use the name tag board to allocate yourself a court/match (if you have not used the Board, other members will show you how this works-let us know if you need a name tag made up for you).
