And so, through this programme, Total is honouring the richness of African culture and its artistic diversity by exploring different forms of expression, such as music, dance and design, with numerous activities and exciting new things for Total AFCON 2019, including: THE OFFICIAL SONG OF “FOOTBALL TOGETHER” – FARA MBÊ, created by the Calema band, a duo from São Tomé e Principe, to celebrate the passion for football, beyond team divides; THE “TOTAL MAN OF THE MATCH” TROPHY DESIGN COMPETITION, which has allowed Egyptian artists to put forward their design of the trophy given to the best player, a challenge won by Hany El Sayed; #CELEBRATEYOURTEAM, in a first for this tournament, to let everybody share their emotions and passion for football with other fans, this gives fans the opportu- nity to see their message shown at the side of the pitch. 1/ OFFICIAL SONG: “FOOTBALL TOGETHER” SING “FARA MBÊ”… AS WITH FOOTBALL, MUSIC IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE As part of its activation programme, Total has crafted the song “Football Together – FARA MBÊ” to celebrate the passion for football in Africa, with as many as possible, both in and out the stadium. Music is indeed a key component of celebration in football and a major aspect of African identity. The official song “Football Together” is created and interpreted by the Calema band, a duo from São Tomé e Principe, two small islands off the coast of Gabon in the middle of the Atlantic. Inspired by the themes of celebration and Africa, Fradique and António have created a unifying piece of music that speaks of the joy that enlivens all football lovers, saying: “We wanted to create a piece of music that unites people and countries, all across Africa.” And a number of languages get decent exposure in this original track in order to be understood, adopted and sung by as many people as possible. Making its debut for this Total AFCON in Egypt, this rhythmic, lively and modern piece of music accompanied the highlights in the stadiums for the different contests of the partnership, yet also throughout the year on the Football Together social networks, on the radio and on music channels. … AND DANCE TO CELEBRATE FOOTBALL Naturally, some choreography has been created to accompany this piece of music. Its main movements are demonstrated in the music video. It’s a symbolic gesture – a true invitation to celebrate for each football fan and to entertain by bringing together as many people as possible around this common passion for football. These were imagined by Hassan Kamel and Hany El Sayed, who have already had numerous exhibitions in Egypt and abroad. Then, the Football Together community on social networks voted for the winner. Hany El Sayed was the winner of this design contest with a majority of the vote at 60%. 4/ FOOTBALL TOGETHER TRIBUNE So that the passion for football can be shared with and celebrated by as many people as possible, Total also let 100 children from the association “FACE for Children in Need” experience Total AFCON 2019. On 30 June, they are invited to the tribune of Cairo International Stadium to watch the Egypt vs Uganda match and participate in the event with around twenty chaperones. Total equip them with a supporter kit (T-shirt, cap and bag). It’s something to inspire all these children and to give them something to remember of the tournament. FACE’s social mission is to help and protect orphans, street children and their families in Egypt. 5/ TOTAL FUN ZONE Total allow all supporters to share their passion together within the “Total Fun Zone”. This place for celebration is rolled out right by the three stadiums in Cairo, which are hosting Total AFCON 2019 matches. Numerous activities, including some sporty ones, are offered there. Giant screens are installed, upon which the “Football Together” official tune is played, and the atmosphere is guaranteed with different shows (DJs, freestyle, cheering teams, virtual games, etc.). 6/ TOTAL BALL KIDS: THE TOURNAMENT’S BALL BOYS AND BALL GIRLS FULFILLING AND SHARING A DREAM The “Total Ball Kids” programme, previously rolled out in the 2017 Total AFCON tournament, is an initiative that sees five children selected from across Africa, giving them the chance to become ball boys and ball girls for the day of the finale. The adventures of these five young football players – three boys and two girls aged 12 to 16 – is shared on the CAF and Total social network pages during the competition and allow everyone to relive their dream with them. The young people speak of their journey, their passion for football and how they see their participation in the tournament. It’s a testimony to the joy and emotion that leaves no-one unmoved. It is the chance for them to fulfil their dreams – attend big matches, watch top players, and even, for some, to travel and take a plane for the first time. And for the 2019 event, these five children, from Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Kenya and Nigeria, will have the opportunity to become ball boys and ball girls for the finale and to thus fulfil their dream. 7/ TOTAL SOCIAL STADIUM SEVERAL HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE TOTAL AFCON 2019 With this dedicated social room facility and the different activities offered on the social media networks, Total allows the Football Together community to follow the Total AFCON 2019 as closely as possible in a “behind the scene” way. Indeed, digital coverage of tournament matches is ensured by community managers along with well-known influencers in Africa who allow fans to access exclusive content behind the scenes of the tournament’s biggest matches and to experience the atmosphere of the stadiums in a unique way.
