Editorial Dear Members, How are you? As I write to you we have had lovely soaking rain and the country side is looking so green and lush. We hope you are able to go outside and enjoy the gorgeous spring bulbs, blossoms and green grass which we have all around us. How blessed we are to live in such a beautiful part of Australia. We have discovered just how ‘slow’ the mail is at the moment in the time it is taking for our newsletters and program of activities to get to your home. Hence we are working really hard to post them a week earlier so you have them at the beginning of each month. A reminder to phone into the activities you would like to participate in. It doesn’t matter which day you usually attend SSG, you are invited and encouraged to join in everything that interests you on any day of the week. We have been working on planning other opportunities to interact as a group during our COVID enforced ‘holiday’. Recently we have purchased some IPADs, and our plan is to conduct activities with you by using video calls, so we can see each other. For those of you who do not have a computer or smart phone, we would hope to be able to loan you an IPAD for an activity so you can participate if you would like to. The plan would be for one of the team to visit you and help you learn how to use the IPAD so you can join in. Please let us know if you are interested. We would love
to talk to you about it. Stay safe. Until next time … Brenda and Fiona We are now taking orders for Vision Australia 2021 Calendars. They cost $15 each for an A3 size and there are 3 different ones available. Please call SSG on 55518381 to place your order and choose which one you would like. “OONYA” Chapter 3: One of our exciting events is the Golden Dragon who lived here 7 moons ago, she laid two eggs. You see Dragons lay eggs every 100 years so this is very special. The eggs are laying in the shorn wool of the sheep and angora goats. They are stabilised by the internal temperature of the Dragon Cave with its thermal atmosphere. Many Moolahs tend the eggs. Moolahs are cantankerous but loving beings and have great affection for the Dragons. It’s early in the morning and a great sound echoes through the valley. The Moolahs screech and sent a vibrational song to everyone. “The Dragon eggs are cracking and we await the young dragon’s appearance.” Everyone scrambles around waking up others in their wake. The Dragons are all massing near the cave and the Mother the Golden Dragon, ascends through the sky in her return. With a massive sweeping of her wings she settles on the ground anxious to see her babies. The Cave is warm and humid. Everyone attends and waits curiously for the presentation…………
“LAUGHTER IS, and always will be, the best form of therapy” Treat your mask like underwear… 1. Do not adjust (especially in public)! 2. Do not borrow or lend! 3. Make sure it fits tight, but is comfortable! 4. Wear the right side out! 5. If it is stained, throw it away! 6. If it is damp, change it! 7. Don’t go commando! How to wash the cat 1. Thoroughly clean the toilet. 2. Lift both lids and add shampoo. 3. Find and soothe cat as you carry him to the bathroom.
4. In one swift move, place cat in toilet, close both lids and stand on top socat cannot escape. 5. The cat will self agitate and produce ample suds. (ignore ruckus form inside toilet; cat is enjoying this). 6. Flush 3 or 4 times, this provides power rinse, which is quite effective. 7. Have someone open outside door, stand as far from toilet as possible and quickly lift both lids. 8. Clean cat will rocket out of toilet and outdoors, where he will air dry. Sincerely, The Dog. Best Wishes from all of us at Social Support Group to all October members! Val Groves 28th Nancy O’Donnell 29th SHORT STORY sent in from Henni Pember… Seeing a photo in “The Weekly Times” of a sheepdog and cat as best friends I was reminded of my dog and cat I once had. My daughter’s dogs Billi and Shaz found this tiny white kitten in the barn meowing sorrowfully. They barked furiously to draw attention to it, so we went to see what the ruckus was all about. Finding this tiny bundle of fluff we took it home and called it “Patch” as it had a bit of black hair over one eye. He settled down between my dog’s paws, obviously considering dogs to be his rescuers. As he grew older he explored the disused quarry next to our house. One day he came home with a little rabbit he had caught for Jake, sitting on the fence post, licking his paws with the rabbit underneath he was very proud of himself, “there it is Jake am I not a clever cat”! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dulcie and Lorraine are our two lucky Bingo winners from last month ~ well done ladies! Humans are beings of energy. Electrical currents and their associated magnetic fields fill and surround the human organism this goes on daily and we are ONE with the rhythms of the earth, night & day and rest & repair. However, what happens when we get out of rhythm? So read on and think… “Environmental medicine generally addresses environmental factors with a negative impact on human health. However, emerging scientific research has revealed a surprisingly positive and overlooked environmental factor on health: direct physical contact with the vast supply of electrons on the surface of the Earth. Modern lifestyle separates humans from such contact. The research suggests that this disconnect may be a major contributor to physiological dysfunction and un-wellness. Reconnection with the Earth's
electrons has been found to promote intriguing physiological changes and subjective reports of well-being. Earthing (or grounding) refers to the discovery of benefits—including better sleep and reduced pain—from walking barefoot outside or sitting, working, or sleeping indoors connected to conductive systems that transfer the Earth's electrons from the ground into the body. This paper reviews the earthing research and the potential of earthing as a simple and easily accessed global modality of significant clinical importance.” Therefor if we think for a moment during this COVID storm; when do we get out to the beach or somewhere where we can take our shoes of and ground with the earth – When was the last time you took off your shoes? So if we just for interest sake take off our footwear for just 30 minutes each day and place our bare feet onto the ground – HOW WOULD WE FEEL? You tell me Q…Would we feel energised without any form of re-balance? Maybe, maybe not! Try it for a week, it’s free and nobody can stop you –only you. Take up the barefoot challenge and record how you feel you may be surprised. FUN FACT FOR OCTOBER Why is Oktoberfest not called Septemberfest? The majority of the 16 to 18 days of the Oktoberfest take place not in October but in September. The name comes from the history of the Wiesn: The occasion for the first Oktoberfest in 1810 was the wedding of the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese of Sachsen- Hildburghausen. On October 12th 1810 the festivities began
and they ended on October 17th with a horse race. Since it was so well-received, the festival was repeated in the following years, then extended and at this point brought forward into September. The weather surely played a role in moving the dates, which in Munich at the end of September often provides a pleasant, mild Indian summer – true Oktoberfest weather, in fact!
