Tonight, is not about rules and regulations, or about dress codes! It is about step one of your journey on a pathway to a diploma.
Registration • Any student who currently attends Slidell Junior High or Clearwood Junior High is automatically registered. • Any student who is currently attending a non- public school (Lake Castle, Calvary, First Baptist, home school, etc.) will schedule tonight but is not registered. • Registration will be held April 9th-20th between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. • Please call 643-2992 for an appointment after March 26, 2018
What to bring to Registration • 3 Proofs of Residency (in district) • A letter of assignment to Slidell High • Certified Birth Certificate • Social Security Card – (not the “receipt” you received with the original) • An up to date Louisiana State Health Card/Shot Record • Standardized Test Scores (7th or 8th grade) – Please direct any questions to Karen Kety, District Test Coordinator, at 898-6481
CREDIT Successful completion of two semesters in any course. 1/2 credit is given for each semester Each semester stands alone You need to earn 23 or 24 credits to graduate depending on the diploma pathway chosen 5 credits are required to become a sophomore
Courses A Course = 1st Semester Course B Course = 2nd Semester Course S Course = Can be scheduled either semester
Honors Placement • Based on: – A or B in Prerequisite – Teacher Recommendation – Satisfactory Score on Honors Placement Test • Clearwood Jr. High: Tuesday, February 6, 2018 • Slidell Jr. High: Wednesday, February 7, 2018 • Private Schools and Makeup Testing: 4:30- 6:00 on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in the library.

What do I need to graduate with a TOPS University Diploma ? • 24 CREDITS • Approaching Basic or above on LEAP2025 in: – Algebra I or Geometry – English I or English II – Biology or US History
College Requirements • Students should contact post-secondary institutions of choice for individual entrance requirements. • Many Louisiana 4 year colleges and universities require students to complete the TOPS University Diploma curriculum.

The mission of Slidell High School is to prepare a diverse student population to function in a world that is increasingly global and technological. THEREFORE… Students are encouraged to take the most rigorous courses available as well as courses that will provide a career focus. *National Honor Society requires 2 Honors/AP/DE Classes per semester per year for eligibility.
Schedule Changes • It is important that you take the process of scheduling seriously. • What you sign up for tonight will be the courses you will get. • Teachers are hired and plans are made for the school year based on student selections. • You will not be able to change your elective in the fall.

Step 1: When you receive your schedule card, the first step is to fill out the top portion. Please fill out all information.
Step 2 Course Selections: Check box of Diploma Track you are following, circle course choices, if taking honors, gifted, or resource write next to class name.
STEP 3 Electives: TOPS UNIVERISTY DIPLOMA TRACK: circle your elective choice in row 6 and write in your elective choice in row 7. TOPS CAREER DIPLOMA TRACK: Write in your elective choices in row 6 and 7. In the Alternate Course section, choose 3 alternative courses. List them in the order of priority.
Step 4: Please sign and date the bottom of your card. The Course Description Guide is yours to keep. Counselors will be collecting your completed schedule card.
