CLUB NEWS Our New Assistant Governor - PP Susan O’ Hagan Ward reports President Gillian informed the club members that Bev Frieslich has been asked to step up into the place of our late President -Koos Burger as an Assistant Governor (AG) for the Southern Peninsula area of our District 9350 for the 2021-22 year. This is part of the Rotary International District structure which assists the District Governor, by sharing some responsibilities and providing the DG with support and crucial communication between the clubs. DG Ian Robertson has divided all the AG‘s Rotary clubs into territories, each with 4 clubs, and the clubs that fall in our ‘Southern territory’ are Constantia, Hout Bay, Wynberg and our very own Cape of Good Hope. He has asked each Assistant Governor to form their own working committee to manage Rotary interests with a view to growing a Rotary presence in our Territory. President Gillian has invited myself, Susan O’Hagan Ward and Terry Spreeth to represent the RC Cape of Good Hope in the monthly Territory meetings with the AGs and help to fulfil the plans of DG Ian. Bev is well versed in Rotary matters and is passionate about the organisation. She has been a Rotarian since 1995, first in Edenvale (Gauteng) in D9400 where she was twice the club President and an Assistant Governor for 4 years. In D9350 she has twice been President of our club. She has boundless energy; she is also involved in other community organisations such as the Board of Valley Development Projects and is a Trustee of the Fish Hoek Museum. She worked closely with Koos last year as his Club Secretary and more; he was a dear friend of hers. She will do Koos proud, keeping him in mind while she fulfils some of the dreams he had.
