Readings for the Week of September 19, 2021 Sunday Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time From Our Pastor Wisdom 2:12, 17-20; James 3:16—4:3; Mark 9:30-37 Monday Sts. Andrew Kim Tae-Gon, Priest, & Paul Chong Ha-Sang, I am grateful for all the participation in our and Companions, Martyrs Parish Volunteer Fair that was held at the end Ezra 1:1-6; Luke 8:16-18 of August. We had over 100 people sign up, or express interest, in the different activities, Tuesday St. Matthew, Apostle & Evangelist groups, and projects present at St. Thomas Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-13; Matthew 9:9-13 Parish. We had over 30 groups represented, and I am grateful to the coordinators of each Wednesday Ezra 9:5-9; Luke 9:1-6 of these areas for your participation and support. Thursday St. Pius of Pietrelcina, Priest Haggai 1:1-8; Luke 9:7-9 In upcoming weeks, we will continue to feature individual groups that you can join or Friday Haggai 2:1-9; Luke 9:18-22 participate in. Even after our volunteer weekend, you are still welcome to sign up for Saturday Zechariah 2:5-9, 14-15a; Luke 9:43b-45 areas of interest to you. Sunday Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time Please remember in prayer our seminarians and Numbers 11:25-29; James 5:1-6; Mark 9:38-43, 45, 47-48 the need for vocations in the Diocese of Peoria. Our patroness for our vocation program is St. Therese of Lisieux. We have traditionally prayed a novena for vocations Mass Intentions before her feast day. The novena begins this Thursday. We made our 8:00 a.m. Carol Ostrander/Friends goal last year, which is a great testament to St. Thomas Parish. With your help, we can make Wednesday, September 22, 2021 our goal again. We often receive a small 8:00 a.m. Jerry McDonough/Eileen McDonough number of pledges during the ADA weekend itself. This year, we have already surpassed Thursday, September 23, 2021 $15,000 from the ADA weekend alone. The program harmonizes current social events with the teachings of the Church. All men of the parish are welcome to attend. TMIY is held every Friday morning in the church basement, starting St. Thomas - Food Pantry September 24th. Doors open at 6 AM for coffee and continental breakfast. Program starts at 6:30 AM and ends by 7:30 AM. Current needs are: canned fruit, canned soup, jelly, meal helper, pasta sauce, TMIY begins this Friday, September 24. 2021 Annual Diocesan Appeal The 2021 Annual Diocesan Appeal is now underway in our Parish. Your support of this year’s Appeal ensures that essential charitable, educational, and pastoral ministries of the Diocese of Peoria are continued and carried forward.
