YMT 2021 Is Getting Closer! Lion's Club Camp for the Blind Waycross, Georgia July 11-18 We are excitedly looking forward to YMT 2021 and busy planning. This very worthy mission needs your continued prayers and faithful giving. Let's make this year the best yet! YMT Meeting for Adults Sunday, April 25th after Worship Service in the Chapel For more information call Kyle Rasco at 706-296-2740. Church Safety Annually there are four significant fire safety inspections that our church must have completed to meet code. These inspections must be performed by a state licensed contractor. As most of you know, our new building has a sophisticated sprinkler system. As part of the inspection the system is tested to ensure that it will perform if needed. On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, Cliff’s Fire Extinguisher Company performed our sprinkler inspection. On that same afternoon they inspected each of our thirty-two fire extinguishers. These must be checked annually and replaced every six years. On Friday, March 19th, Cliff’s returned and inspected and tested the fire suppression system on the hood of our kitchen stove in Walker Hall. Later that day the alarm system in the new building was in- spected and tested. I am awaiting any final recommendations that may come out of the inspections however, I feel good that all the inspected systems are working properly. This week I will be ordering speed bumps that will be installed in the parking lot near the Welcome Center. Despite signage, we have experienced drivers using our parking lot as a cut thru to avoid the traf- fic signal at Spring Street and East Church. This has created a danger to our Preschool children during drop off and pick up. As we begin to experience warm weather, we are considering several opportunities for outdoor ser- vices. Recently the deacons approved forming a committee to plan, design, and construct a pavilion between the church and church office to be used for outdoor services and many other church activities. We will keep you posted as this project moves forward. Bill

Rest Stops As with any long trip, it's a good idea to take a rest along the way to relax and recharge. We hope you will join us on our own journey together this year at the "rest stops" along the way. These "rest stops" are special times to get together for fellowship and en- joyment. The first "rest stop" will be Sunday, April 18th after Worship Service. Join us for an outdoor brunch and fellowship or just come get a plate and take it with you to Sunday School Class. We are planning to enjoy the spring weather with a second "rest stop" after a special outdoor Worship Service on Sunday, May 2nd and you re invited to join us for lunch (there will be no Sunday School this day). Music “Sing to the Lord a new song! Sing to the Lord, all the earth.” (Psalm 96) We’re excited to be adding hymn singing back to our services. The COVID task force and deacons have made two exciting recom- mendations to add more music back to our services. • They recommend that we add masked singing back for the congregation. You will still need to wear masks and remain socially distanced, but we will be using hymnals and singing the hymns again. We’re even having a couple of “Singing Services” coming up. If you have a favorite hymn that you want to sing, let us know. You can email the church office with Favorite Hymn in the subject line. You can write it on a piece of paper and leave it on the chair near the organ (or hand it to Joy Huddlestun), or you can email Joy at jehuddle@gmail.com – again, please put Favorite Hymn in the subject line. • Starting in March, we have allowed soloists and small ensembles to sing unmasked with extra dis- tancing. They will be standing on the first row of the choir loft to sing, but they can sing without masks! If they wish to sing from the pulpit, singers will need to continue to wear a singer’s mask, but now they have options! We need all of you to come join us in song! “Rejoice and sing!” Music is a fair and glorious gift of God. -Martin Luther Lamplighters: Women on Missions Thursday, April 8th at 10:30 in Walker Hall The Lamplighters will begin meeting again in April. This will be a time of planning and fellowship. Our last meeting was held a year ago, March 2020, so we are very excited to come together once again. While this is during Spring Break, if you are in town and want to join us, please do! All ladies of the Church are invited to wear your masks and join us.
