Applicants sought for Boards and Commissions • The County of Maui is seeking applicants for 46 vacancies on Maui County boards, commissions, councils and committees. • The vacancies are for the following: • 5 – Council of Aging • 4 – Public Works Commission • 3 – Maui County Arborist Committee
Applicants sought for Boards and Commissions • 2 – Board of Ethics; Board of Variances and Appeals; Board of Water Supply; Commission on Children and Youth; Fire and Public Safety Commission; Hana Advisory Committee; Liquor control Adjudication Board; Liquor Control Commission; Maui County Commission on Persons with Disabilities; Maui Planning Commission; Molokai Planning Commission; Maui Police Commission; Salary Commission; Committee on Status of Women.
Applicants sought for Boards and Commissions • 1 – Affirmative Action Advisory Council; Civil Service Commission; Kula Agricultural Park Committee; Lanai Planning Commission; Maui County Cultural Resources Committee; Real Property Tax Review Board; Maui Redevelopment Agency.
Applicants sought for Boards and Commissions • Applicants are also being sought for the Charter Commission, which consists of 11 members. • The Charter Commission convenes every 10 years to study the operation of the county government and review the County Charter. • We encourage anyone who is interested to apply and help make recommendations/decisions that positively impact Maui County.

Pre-Travel Testing Program • The Governor has announced that the pre-travel testing program has been delayed to Oct. 15, 2020, for transpacific travelers. • This program would allow transpacific travelers to be exempt from the mandatory 14-day travel quarantine by providing a negative COVID-19 test 72-hours prior to their arrival into Hawaii. • Any traveler who is unable to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test will still be required to quarantine.
Pre-Travel Testing Program • The traveler is responsible for the cost of the pre-travel test. • The only types of COVID-19 tests currently approved for the program are FDA-approved NAAT tests processed by a CLIA-certified laboratory. • These tests can be obtained from CVS and Kaiser Permanente. • For more information and FAQs, visit hawaiicovid19.com/travel/.

Drive-Through Testing in West Maui – Monday, Sept. 21 • Drive-Through COVID-19 testing will be held on Monday, Sept. 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lahaina Aquatic Center. • Lahaina Aquatic Center will be closed all day Monday due to the drive-through testing. • The Lahaina Recreation Center will be closed Monday morning and open at 2 p.m.
Drive-Through Testing in West Maui – Monday, Sept. 21 • Participants should pre-register for the drive-through testing on Minit Medical’s website at www.minitmed.com. • Participants can do same-day registration, but pre-registration saves time and avoids paperwork and personal interactions. • People who get tested are asked to bring: • Insurance card • Identification • Facial covering / mask

Maui Jim Maui Invitational • The Maui Jim Maui Invitational notified us yesterday that it will be relocating to North Carolina for this year only. • We understand that the decision was made after consultation with local and national health officials, participating schools, the NCAA and many others. • They have told us that they will greatly miss coming to our islands, but will do their best to recreate Maui’s beauty during the telecast and promotion of the event. • We appreciate our continued partnership with the tournament and look forward to welcoming them back in 2021, which boasts a packed field, including Oregon, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Butler, Texas A&M, Houston, St. Mary’s and Chaminade.
Honoring Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg • The County of Maui honors and recognizes Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away today. • Justice Ginsburg was just the second woman to serve on the Supreme Court and was a pioneer for women’s rights. • The United States lost a great leader today and we ask everyone in Maui County to share their aloha and prayers for our country.
