It’s been a busy month for us at plot 18a
The weather has been so up and down during these months, it
was wonderful having the short spell of sunshine, then a
sprinkling of snow too. Any chance of planting will have

We have added more raised beds
with trellises for the tomatoes and
sunflowers and planted the sweet
peas in a bed with a wigwam cane

against frost and so far they have
held out on their own.
The logs have been cut up for our

One of our greatest passions at hiya bucks is
celebrating the natural beauty of many places
in the area, and when we find like-minded
people we like to celebrate them too!

Some of you may remember Andrew Nicol, Founder of Chiltern Photography, who
featured on the front cover of our Beautiful Buckinghamshire Calendar a couple of
years ago.

Andrew’s photography has also featured
on some of our front covers too and
his work has been published in national
publications and has been used for
promotional purposes by the tourism and
leisure industry. He explained to us where
it all started: ‘I have always felt privileged
to have been brought up in the heart
of the Chilterns and love nothing more
than exploring the area and finding new,
tucked-away places. Photography has
been another passion of mine ever since I
received my first camera at the age of nine,
so it made sense to combine the two, and
Chiltern Photography was born!’ After a year of feeling more grateful than
ever for the stunning sights a stone’s throw

features Bucks has to offer, ‘from rolling
hills to ancient villages tucked away in
steep valleys, from airy beechwoods awash
with carpets of bluebells to colourful
flower-studded meadows and crystal-clear
chalk streams’, and has carved out a niche
small business by launching a giftware and

Heart of Bucks appeal for
Family Angels campaign
One unexpected event can be all it takes to cause significant disruption to a
family. The aim of Family Angels is to give families who find themselves in a
crisis a chance to get their lives back on track.
The campaign, which is managed by Heart of Bucks, helps Buckinghamshire-based families with
dependent children who are in an immediate crisis. By providing one-off financial support to these
families, the crisis situation can often be resolved before the problem escalates.

A LOCAL MURDER MYSTERY: THE MARLOW MURDER CLUB
Written by local author Robert Thorogood, creator of the long running TV series, Death in Paradise,
this is set in and around the Marlow area. It introduces 77 year old Judith Potts, who witnesses a brutal
murder while out swimming in the
    Thames. Unconvinced by the police's
attempts to uncover who did it, she
    starts investigating, and soon hooks
up with the salt-of-the-earth Suzie, a
local dogwalker, and Becks, the Vicar's
    perfect Home Counties' wife. Together,
they are the Marlow Murder Club.
And when another body turns up,
they begin to realise that they have a
real-life serial killer on their hands.
There are 12 copies held throughout
