BEACONSFIELD years C E LEB R AT I N G 20 Y E ARS IN THE BUS INES S It all started back in April 2001 from a living room office in Amersham. With a ford fiesta loaded with a small number of tools, a one-man band, AKA Shaun Baber, set off with the bare essentials and a bucket load of determination and ideas. Now, 20 years later, SMB Services have a new head office, over 15 members of staff and a heavy fleet of vehicles. The team is handpicked with great care and attention and each team member has their very own unique specialist skill; this makes SMB stand out above the rest. Although having grown in size a great deal over the last 20 years, SMB is still very much a family run business, believing RELIABILITY, PASSION AND AFFORDABILITY are key to running a successful business. 80% of our business is word of mouth, referrals and repeat business, both commercial and domestic, which speaks for itself To enable us to bring your building dream to life please get in touch Tel: 01494 676922 Mob: 07795 597264 Email: smbservices2001@gmail.com E ST 20 0 1 24 | hiyabucks.com

It’s been a busy month for us at plot 18a The weather has been so up and down during these months, it was wonderful having the short spell of sunshine, then a sprinkling of snow too. Any chance of planting will have to wait until earliest the end of April to ensure the frost has passed. We have added more raised beds with trellises for the tomatoes and sunflowers and planted the sweet peas in a bed with a wigwam cane structure; these are very hardy against frost and so far they have held out on their own. The logs have been cut up for our bug hotel, which still needs to be named. I’m lucky enough to have a lovely sunny conservatory at home to sow and grow in. This month I’ve made a start on some seeds I’ve never planted A new learning lesson for me this month after watching before. I found some Cucamelon seeds the fantastic Monty Don (swoon) was the dahlias I have online which originate from Mexico. One of our greatest passions at hiya bucks is celebrating the natural beauty of many places in the area, and when we find like-minded people we like to celebrate them too! Some of you may remember Andrew Nicol, Founder of Chiltern Photography, who featured on the front cover of our Beautiful Buckinghamshire Calendar a couple of years ago. Andrew’s photography has also featured on some of our front covers too and his work has been published in national publications and has been used for promotional purposes by the tourism and leisure industry. He explained to us where it all started: ‘I have always felt privileged to have been brought up in the heart of the Chilterns and love nothing more than exploring the area and finding new, tucked-away places. Photography has been another passion of mine ever since I received my first camera at the age of nine, so it made sense to combine the two, and Chiltern Photography was born!’ After a year of feeling more grateful than ever for the stunning sights a stone’s throw away from our local towns and villages, this is a chance to share our home pride with others. So, whether you’re looking for wall art to brighten up your home, or a greetings card to send to a loved one, Andrew hopes Chiltern Photography becomes your go-to shop for local gifts and cards. Andrew is inspired by the wealth of natural features Bucks has to offer, ‘from rolling hills to ancient villages tucked away in steep valleys, from airy beechwoods awash with carpets of bluebells to colourful flower-studded meadows and crystal-clear chalk streams’, and has carved out a niche small business by launching a giftware and greetings card range.
