MAB Foundation Scholarship Program

Description: High school seniors who have been accepted at a Michigan College, university or trade school and plan
to study and pursue a career in a broadcast-related field may apply for one of two $750 scholarships.

APIASF
Sponsor: Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund
Amount: $2,500 one year awards - $20,000 multi-year awards

Description: The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) is the nation's largest 501(c)3 non-
profit organization that provides scholarships to Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIAs) with financial need.
Live at or below the poverty level or are otherwise of low socioeconomic status; Are the first in their families to
attend college; Are representative of the APIA community's diversity, geographically and ethnically, especially those
ethnicities that have been underrepresented on college campuses due to limited access and opportunity; and have
placed strong emphasis on community service and leadership as well as solid academic achievement.

Description: The Ryan Fischer Legacy Award was established to Honor the life of Ryan Fischer and the legacy he left in
the Michigan Hockey Community. Ryan had a strong faith in God, a passion for his country and an unconditional love for
all others. He encouraged his teammates to live a life that represents the integrity, character, and sportsmanship that
Ryan displayed in all facets of his life. Eligible students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, have been accepted to a
college/university, have a varsity letter in at least two varsity sports including hockey, demonstrate high moral character,
sportsmanship, leadership, integrity, and a positive attitude. Additional requirements within the application include an
essay, letter of recommendation from your Varsity Hockey coach and two additional letters of recommendation. Apply

Advocates Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and current college students in the United States. Applicant must
submit an essay on a given topic related to problems we face on the road.

Description: UCS graduating seniors are invited to apply for the 2023 Superintendent’s Scholarship awards program.
Applications must be submitted electronically. Students are required to receive one recommendation from a teacher,
school counselor, administrator, or non-family member. The individual making the recommendation will need to submit an
appraisal from and recommendation electronically.

UNION PLUS Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Union Plus Education Foundation
Amount: $ 500 - $4,000
Closing Date: January 31, 2023
Description: Current and retired members of participating unions, their spouses and their dependent children (as
defined by IRS regulations). At least one year of continuous union membership by the applicant, applicant's spouse
or parent (if applicant is a dependent). The one-year membership minimum must be satisfied by May 31 of the
scholarship year. This is a competitive scholarship. Applicants are evaluated according to academic ability, social
awareness, financial need and appreciation of labor. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is recommended. The required essays
can account for up to half your total score. Scholarship applicants are judged by a committee of impartial post-
secondary educators.

Description: One application for numerous scholarships. Beginning November 15th, students can register in the
scholarship portal and apply to any scholarship for which they are eligible. The deadline to register for the

Detroit Economic Club Scholarship

Closing Date: February 15, 2023 to access the application; March 15, 2023 to apply
A $2,000, renewable, scholarship will be awarded to a qualified student from Detroit, Macomb, Oakland and/or
Wayne counties who will be entering college as a freshman in the fall. Special consideration will be given to
students who have overcome specific hardships to achieve their personal and educational goals. Student must
demonstrate financial need by completion of the FAFSA (www.fafsa.gov)

Miguel Cabrera Family Scholarship Fund

Description: A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualified student from Detroit, Macomb, Oakland and/or
Wayne counties who will be entering college as a freshman in the fall. Eligible candidates will be in good academic
standing (2.5 or above) and be full first-generation college students (“first generation” meaning that student and/or
their siblings are the first in their family line that will attend, or with respect to a sibling, have graduated from a
university) or are from historically underrepresented student populations.

MEA Scholarship

Description: Several scholarships will be awarded to young men and women that are a dependent of MEA member
or MEA-Retired member in good standing and a graduate of a Michigan public high school or private high school
that has an MEA bargaining unit. Student must have plans to attend an undergraduate program of a Michigan public
community/junior college, four-year degree-granting institution, or vocational training institution that grants a
degree, certification or license. Those attending the following private institutions ONLY are also eligible: Baker
College-Flint/Owosso; University of Detroit–Mercy; Adrian College; Finlandia University; and Albion College. (The
aforementioned private institutions are existing local MEA affiliates.) Priority is given on the basis of: Academic
achievement, extra-curricular activities, school and community service, and students from lower income households.

Description: Community Choice Foundation believes that learning is a life-long process and are proud to offer 15

at a two- or four-year Michigan college or university and have a desire to live and work in Michigan after attaining a

Description: This scholarship is available to a current part-time or full-time Meijer Team Member with an

Senior Planning Social Work & Eldercare Award
