Santa Susanna is an attractive resort situated on the Costa Maresme in Catalonia. Situated on a coastal
strip often mistaken for the Costa Brava, Santa Susanna offers a good holiday location, just 38 miles from
the city of Barcelona and with all of the wonderful beaches, bays and facilities of the Costa Brava nearby.

The laid-back town is set between the glittering Mediterranean Sea and the mountainous wooded
backdrop of the Massif Montenegre. It’s a popular holiday destination for both Spanish and foreign tourist
and neatly combines a historic and traditional setting, with modern amenities for the holidaymaker.

Culture
The origins of Santa Susanna date back to the 12th century when the Alfata Valley was populated by
peasants cultivating vineyards and fields of grain crops.

Today a few traces of the mediaeval era still remain, specifically the watchtowers, the chapel of Santa
Susanna and the old fortified farmhouses, some of them still inhabited. One such is Can Rosich, which
now provides rural tourist accommodation.

All the buildings of Santa Susanna, which represent a significant part of its artistic and historical heritage,
keep alive the value of the legacy enclosed within their walls.

Beaches
Santa Susanna boasts more than two kilometres of quality beaches with clean, coarse-grained, golden
sand. All Santa Susanna’s beaches are equipped with showers, foot washes, lifeguard chairs and wooden
walkways for the convenience of visitors.

They offer a safe, calm setting of guaranteed environmental quality, a place to enjoy the sun and a dip in
the Mediterranean Sea very close to Barcelona.
