  From the Board Room
  Welcome to the 2021-22 School Year! The RUSD Board of Trustees met
  in-person on Tuesday, August 17th. Here are some highlights from our
  meeting:

We were delighted to officially welcome our new Superintendent
     Ms. Kimberly McGrath, Bel Aire Principal Mr. John DiCosmo, Del
     Mar Assistant Principal Mr. Michael Song and Del Mar PE Teacher
     Ms. Heather Johnson to the RUSD team.
     Ms. McGrath provided a detailed review of the Marin County Public
     Health Guidelines for Schools / 32 Point Plan and underscored how
     RUSD is aligned with Public Health in meeting these requirements
     for the 2021-22 school year. She emphasized the District's
     continuing alignment with Public Health as the guidelines continue
     to evolve. Ms. McGrath's presentation can be found HERE and
     additional information was discussed at her Superintendent Chat on
     August 13.
     Pat O'Connor provided an update on the extended school year
     program held for 19 students over the summer at Bel Aire School.
     The Board adopted a new policy enabling the District to provide an
     independent study option that complies with the requirements of
     Assembly Bill 130. The District may host, contract with the County
     Office of Education, or contract through an inter-district transfer
     agreement to provide an independent study option to all students.
