Runner's Guide Spring 2021 - BQ.2 Marathon Races
Top 10 MUST Know items for Spring BQ2 runners ...
Besides the normal pre-race requirements, this year's pre-race experience will be very
structured, with extra rules that you must follow to make race day smooth for you and
your fellow runners. You will be reminded race morning, but you should know each of
these ahead of time...

Planning - no surprises
  1. watch the safety video before you arrive, and be ready to recite the clues within to pick up
     your bib packet

  2. elite bottles are single use. You may bring up to 7, but they will not return to the tables, and
you will not get them back.

  3. know the course special turns at miles 0.5, 1.5, and 3.0. You will pass these points 8 times
during the race, but will make a special turn the first pass only. Do not just follow the runner in
front of you. They may be on their 2nd pass.

  4. know your wave start time (and race day) and schedule your morning appropriately ...

  5. be at the check-in corral precisely 35 to 40 minutes before you start, and 5 minutes earlier
if you need to mark your bottles

  6. do any extended warm-up early. It will not be possible once you advance from check-
in. Stride-outs are permitted the last 10 minutes before you start

  7. use a washroom before arriving. You will not have access to a portalet for the 5 to 10
minutes that you are in the check-in corral

  8. friends and family are not permitted in race village until 8am. They can watch you at the
south end of the course, (mile 3.5, 6.5, ...) if they want to spectate before 8. 125 Houston
     Street, Batavia IL

  9. wear a mask to early packet pickup

  10. wear a disposable mask to race village, and keep it on until your wave has started

An Important Note Regarding
                COVID-19
Thank you for choosing to run with us during this unprecedented time. Together,
we look forward to leading the running community in getting back to in person
events safely and responsibly! Please review the following very carefully. Runner
health and safety is our utmost priority, and any runners or spectators not
adhering to safety guidelines may jeopardize their ability to participate.
  • In order to pick up your packet, you will have to view our safety video on COVID 19
guidelines and procedure. The video can be viewed here.

  • The race is being split into two different days. Be sure to confirm which day you are
scheduled to run. You can confirm here.

  • To meet Illinois’s COVID Safety Guidelines, the race has changed to a wave start. See
page 5 for arrival times and wave schedule. MISSING YOUR ARRIVAL TIME MAY
    JEOPARDIZE YOUR CHANCE TO RUN!

  • Masks will be required of all runners and spectators at packet pick-up and while in
race village. Failure to wear a mask may result in disqualification and removal from the
    event.

  • Illinois is under heavier COVID restrictions than many other States. Be sure to bring a
mask with you, understand restaurants are operating at limited capacity, and be
respectful of precautions taken by businesses. Also, if you are planning any tourist
activities in the city of Chicago, there are additional quarantine guidelines in effect for
the city. Because this race does not take place in the city, for those of you flying into
an airport and staying outside the city limits, Chicago’s quarantine guidelines do not
    apply.

We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation with the extra
precautions taken by the event given the current circumstances.
