THE PHYSICALITY This colt resembles the stature of his sire Rubick and physically was one of the best of the sale. Upon first, second and third inspection, he was a clear eye catcher. As shown in the video , he is a very free moving colt with a powerful stride. At the sale, the colt demanded attention with his athleticism and the balance he showed in his gait. These attributes will benefit him in the efficiency of his stride at full pace. The team fell in love with him at the sale and given his great type, he is outstanding value as a race horse prospect.
"Absolute athlete, he had everything I look for in a horse - poise, balance, presence and moved incredibly well" - Dave Mee (PBI)
THE SELECTION PROCESS The Pulse Racing team, alongside our Bloodstock Agent Dave Mee (Pinhook Bloodstock), have a very thorough and extensive selection process. In order to maximise the quality of our purchases, our selection process commences months before the sales with a significant proportion of inspections occurring on stud farms. At the sale, these inspections continue until we have narrowed down a boutique shortlist from over a thousands of horses. Before these horses enter the sale ring, they are vetted by our team of expert vets and a budget is set as to what we think each horse is worth. This thorough selection process ensures value is maximised with the horses we buy.
THE PEDIGREE The Colt's pedigree was given a A- grade rating from our pedigree experts. This rating gives us confidence he has the bloodlines to match his impressive physique, in order to be successful on the race track! THE SIRE - Rubick Rubick was a sensation on the race track winning 3 big races as a two year old. His best win was the MRC Schillaci S (Gr2). He was the leading Sire of 3YOs in Aust. in 2019-20. He has sired 132 winners from 267 runners inc. SW Yes Yes Yes (The Everest and Todman Stks, G2) and Rubisaki (Kewney Stks G2). THE DAM - Dream Genie Dream Genie was a promising race filly, trained by Chris Waller. She was placed twice in her first three starts, but unfortunately injury cut short her racing career. She comes from an impressive black-type New Zealand family. Most notably, she is a half sister to listed winner and Qiji Express and stakes placed Spectacular Vision. Her 2nd Dam is half sister to NZ Champion Sprinter Miler Gee I Jane (Telegraph Hcp G1, 2nd in the Stradbroke Hcp G1) and Miss Jessie Jay (G3 winner). The pedigree page only goes to the 3rd Dam with plenty of black type down the page which is something we always look for in the Dams' pedigree.
THE TRAINER The colt will be given every chance being trained in the boutique stable of Michael Freedman. Based out of Randwick, Michael has one of the most astute and successful operactions in NSW. Michael has been training at the highest level since 1998. In his time in Singapore, he won 468 races at a strike rate of 15% - his best galloper during that period was the two-time Singapore Horse of the Year and Gr1. Hong Kong Sprint winner Super Easy. Upon returning to Australia, Michael has once again proven to be one of Australia's most talented trainer of sprinters. The partnership has produced amazing results so far with highlights being Stay Inside winning the 2021 Golden Slipper G1 and Queen of the Ball winning the G3 Black Opal. Most recently, Michael put the finishing touches on Forbidden Love to win the 2022 G1 George Ryder Stakes. From 1 April 2022 Michael will train at the Randwick Stables in his own right. Michael’s approach to his horses and his communication is second to none, which is a key factor in why we selected him to train this colt
