FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 2019 RING IN THE YEAR OF THE RAT WITH THE PENINSULA HONG KONG’S LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS The city’s Grande Dame will offer a variety of special events and experiences to help guests make memories that last a lifetime The lunar New Year is the most important festival on the Chinese calendar, which is why The Peninsula Hong Kong has arranged an array of exciting events to help the guests to celebrate the Year of The Rat in style. A ‘Must See’ Event Symbolising prosperity and good luck for the upcoming year, the lion dance is one of the most indispensable traditions of the Lunar New Year, and therefore the ideal way to kick-start the hotel’s festivities. Featuring nine lions and one dragon, the traditional dance can be enjoyed in The Lobby on Saturday, 25 January 2020, the first day of the Lunar New Year. Elaborate decorations featuring peach blossoms, red flowers and festive lanterns will adorn all areas of the grand building and forecourt to symbolise good luck, while pink plum blossoms and kumquat bushes laden with golden-orange fruit will aim to bring prosperity while providing a backdrop against which guests can enjoy a collection of curated experiences for all the family. Festive Puddings and Hampers A time-honoured tradition in their own right, Spring Moon’s celebrated Lunar New Year puddings, hampers and delectable dim sum collection, offer an irresistible taste of the season. Priced at HK$ 318 each and available in Taro, Water Chestnut, Turnip and Spring Moon New Year Pudding flavours, each pudding’s creation is overseen by Spring Moon’s Dim Sum Sous Chef Kanny Cheuk. The deluxe gourmet hamper, Luxury Gourmet Hamper priced at HK$ 3,688, is available as an ideal gift for relatives and business associates – or simply for guests’ own enjoyment.
